30min to an hour

  • The biggest turn off to this game and why it fails miserably to other games is that the game takes too long to play. Got to figure out how to get it down to 30 min to an hour.

Just thinking about it. Make shorter quests, get rid of the kraken and megladon, have storage chests on the outposts to quicken loading. Speed up all the ships in same proportions. All that would lead to faster sailing.

  • @captainluke56
    Arena has 15 minute matches.

I don't think I agree with all of your suggestions but I do agree that sometimes the amount of time you have to spend in Sea of Thieves to do most of the activities can be a barrier to being able to play, I often only have small windows to play games in and generally speaking if it's anything less than an hour/hour and a half I pretty much rule out Sea of Thieves.

I would like to see the ability to purchase shorter quests but obviously the reward for those would need to be appropriately adjusted for the time invested to prevent people exploiting them and to ensure that those that can play for longer are in no way disadvantaged or penalised.

  • Just buy out all of the voyages and cancel each until you get an easy 1.

Alternatively, you can just do a cargo run - quick and easy; point A to Point B and done in about 10 minutes.

  • @captainluke56

set sail collect loot around without any journey.
you can decide an sail as long as you want
set sail nd go hunt a Megalodon or a Skeleton Ship.

I like it a sessions endures about 2-3 hours - perfect time for an afterwork evening.

Did not forgot about them - I didn't say he could play 4 in an hour 😁.

We can also move the islands closer together and add bridges and tunnels.

  • Is this a suggestion or a rant?

What can I say. Its not a game you can just casually pick up for a couple of minutes and I'm kinda glad it isn't one of those games.

Games stores have thousands of mind numbingly casual 10 minute adventure games.

Before you buy a game check out twitch or YouTube and watch a few let's plays to see what it's all about and whether you have the time for it in future. It will save you quite a bit of money.

  • New gamers today hate having to “grind” or out in hard work into video games these days. If you can’t jump in and go at it...like Minecraft, it’s too hard and unfun.

Nobody wants to spend to much time in game just to lvl up. Not like back in the old days of WoW or other grinding games before shorting the exp and time spent.

Sorry, my answer is no to the idea.

I don't know whether or not that's the experience that the OP is looking for, I hope not because I agree it isn't that sort of game, I suppose only they can answer that, but there will be a number of players who can't always guarantee that they can spend and uninterrupted hour or more on a game that they want to play.

You're quite right that properly researching a purchase makes sense to avoid buying a game you aren't going to enjoy or have enough time to play but that doesn't mean that there might not be an opportunity to expand the player base by adding a few more activities that your average player can complete in under an hour. It probably wouldn't be that hard to implement. As an example a player could specifically purchase a single island voyage with the loot/xp payout proportional to the shorter length of the voyage.

I might be wrong and the OP can correct me if I am but I don't think they are saying that they necessarily want to level up faster or earn existing rewards quicker, I agree with you I don't think that needs to change drastically. I think what they are saying is that they would like to see a greater number of activities that your average player can complete in a shorter play session since for some people an hour or more might be more time than they can commit to because of whatever reason.

For me personally there have been lots of times where I've wanted to play Sea of Thieves but know that I might only have very limited time so generally speaking unless I know I can commit to playing for a minimum of an hour I might play something else or do something else. For that reason I can see the appeal of the game having more activities that I can realistically complete in a shorter amount of time.

Obviously everyone will have different amounts of time that they can game for as a result of work, family, education etc etc and whilst I agree completely that there needs to be something put in by the player to get something out I can't blame someone for saying I want to play this game more but in the little time I have I can't. Of course if I have misread or misinterpreted what the OP was saying please feel free to completely ignore my thoughts on the subject 😆

    This is how I play.

I get about an hour to hour thirty per session that I can sail. I load my ship up, pick a random direction and sail. I look as I pass by islands (or floating items) for any treasure, grab anything that is an instant turn in.

I also look for a red skeleton. Those often are easy to kill, pick up their note and skull. Loot the treasure (90% of the time it's on the same island for me) and make a port stop. If I have time for a second run I do, otherwise, set the ship ablaze, play a song and take it to my grave for next time.

  • And what exactly is preventing you from playing for however how long you want to play?

Last friday I wanted to play a little bit during lunch break, decided to start up the game, hop on a sloop, fill my pockets once and leave outpost to sail around.

I sailed to the closest island, found a beached captain's chest, ammo box, a green mermaid statue poking out of the water, and a skelly captain that gave me his skull (how nice) and a map leading me to a mega keg and crying chest on the very same island. I sailed back to the outpost I came from, and made around 8-9k in maybe 20 minutes.

The game offer plenty of activities of varying duration. No one is twisting your arm to play 4 hours in a row if you don't wan't to.

    Pirates Life ☠ ☠ ☠

  • @captainluke56 you could also just do some of a Gold Hoarder or Order of Souls quest. If I have less than an hour that's what I do.
