There is ton of content in the game already, but I think pirates in this game have been roaming free too long. There are pirates, skeletons, and so forth. I think what the game is missing, is law and order. During this time period, the British were claiming territory all over the world and had a very big navy. I think to spice things up a little, British galleons should be roaming the seas just like skeleton ships. Pirates can choose to attack them or not, and if you are wanted on outposts, they will be looking for you. I think it would also be cool to add merchant ships on the seas as well. What if you could trade or transport cargo from these ships and make a bounty, or attack these merchant ships and have the royal navy on your tail. It would be cool to see something like this come true. Imagine spawning in the game, walking to the outpost and finding a British galleon docked at the outpost doing there thing, along with merchant ships transporting cargo. This would in my mind complete the game.

@ciderdrum Ah yeah that'd be cool! Also if you attacked a merchant ship you could get a bounty placed on your ship that could be collected by any other player.
@ciderdrum They actually have a name for this faction in Sea of Thieves already. It's called "The Grand Maritime Union". A faction I've been waiting to finally make an appearance in the Sea of Thieves.
I'm not against this idea, but the arrival of the Maritime Union should be a massive event in terms of story arc, and we are already in the middle of the Captian Flameheart arc. Perhaps when it is over it would be an interesting thing to happen next, perhaps we could even have massive 1st rate warships as "boss ship" events where players have to team up to take it down.
@the-hoodedjoker It would be nice to do some 'actual' piracy in our pirate game that isn't against another pirate player.

It won't be. Rare devs have already said in a past Q&A that the next year will expand on the mermaids in some big way.
Well, I could see this happening if the British Royal Navy is cannon to the SOT lore. This game has a background in literature, a bit like The Witcher series. Just about everything the game entails has a background in the lore. I do agree that this would make the game more immersive and I think it would be a really fun addition to the game, but you are thinking in the historical context and not the context of the literature of SOT (if that makes sense). Yes, seeing British ships would be really fun, but it would be difficult to introduce if the lore does not include the BRN. Overall, I do very much like the idea, but we would just have to see what the devs feel about it concerning the lore.

@brick782 That is all very true. They have added things to SoT that sometimes does not have a background in the universe itself. . They could just introduce the british, just like they introduced skeleton ships with the cool cinimatic trailer and all. That would be cool for them to post a cinimatic trailer on the british occupying the Sea of Thieves.
