Fog to thick

  • Here we are on a sloop completing a fort.. Out of nowhere a Gally roles up, sinks us and continues sailing away.. ahhgg annoying as they didn't even do the fort. A few hours later we see these little rotten tomatoes and chase them. Now they are running from a little sloop. We managed to get around to them and blasted them with everything we had. After a good 30mins of fighting we managed to get all their masts knocked over by using chains, we hit them with countless cannon balls and firebombs. Their Gally is well ablaze, leaking from every angle. We could tell it was only a matter of a few more cannon balls and they were gone, sunken forever, victory ours. All 4 of them down-under repairing frantically to save it from sinking... Suddenly, out of nowhere the most thickest, whitest and brightest fog you'd ever seen in your lifetime comes rolling through.... The Gally vanished, literally vanished, not sunk, just vanished into the fog. They were still without masts as they were knocked down. They couldn't go anywhere. I shoot myself into the direction I think they are... Wrong, not there, try again. Different angle..... Wrong, not there. They are lost, saved by the blanket of fog. All that time, effort and ammo wasted for nothing. We sail out of the fog to try find them, 10minutes later we finally get out of fog. We search for them for ages and as we are about to give up we see them waaaaay in the horizon. No chance of getting them. It's over. Log off and left feeling disappointed in the game, let down from the game. Not happy.
***Producers, does the fog really need to be so thick and last for so long. I was extremely unimpressed and it was not enjoyable whatsoever. Please fix.

  • @mrjayjay85 maybe they actually sunk, but you just didn't get to see the moment it did. Them "way off in the distance" was probly where they ended up after the respawning.

  • It sounds like you had an awesome adventure to me.

  • I think it might be lost on you how fog actually works in real life. I like the fog the way it is, it works just as its supposed too. There is no need to fix what isn't broken. What I am at a lost is how you can lose a ship that is on fire, all masts down, in all sense and purposes stationary. This is a failure on you, not the devs.

Had the thought occurred that you actually sunk them rather than they made their escape?

  • @mrjayjay85 That's how fog works. Also instead of shooting towards where you thought the ship was you should of shot straight up to see over the fog.

Wrong, galleons don't show up out of nowhere, they get the drop on you because you're not keeping an eye on the horizon.

They are lost, saved by the blanket of fog.

Lol, if there were, that's kinda cool, but they weren't... How are you unable to find a stationary ship that is on fire? Go into your crows nest, or use your cannons to shoot yourself above the fog, and determine the direction the smoke from the burning ship is located in, and proceed to go in that direction.

You're talking about it like a directionally insane individual who can't find something, despite having been given crystal clear directions to find it:

    Lookout: "She's located east!"

    Captain: "Go east!"

Directionally insane crewmate: proceeds to immediately go south-west and finds nothing "I cannae find 'er, cap'n!"

All that time, effort and ammo wasted for nothing.

Well, getting salty about it is definitely a waste of effort. :P
This mistake of yours is entirely you and your crews own fault.

So in summary: Pirate allows his ship to sink due to neglect, gets angry when fog denies him his revenge and then requests for fog to be removed from game.

    Top kek! xD

  • Another day you will have a tale of how you were being pursued by a Gally, with your sloop glinting and shining from the load of loot you had on board, and how you managed to evade them by sailing into a thick fog, and lead them through a thicket of rocks on which they likely dashed the ship.

Sometimes a megalodon pops up and attacks you just as you are battling another ship. Sometimes it attacks the other ship, helping you sink it, or escape.

These things work both ways. Sometimes in your favor, and sometimes against you. Please, do not ask for a feature to be changed because you had one bad experience.
