Chain shot is OP

  • First before anybody says "your just saying this because you got sunk by people using them"

    You're wrong thats not the case infact its the opposite, I'm saying this because me and my crew have rolled up on multiple ships today while on a galleon 2 of us just spam Chain shots and their ship just doesn't stand a chance its immobilized within seconds and the others shoot cannons then the norm begins send a boarder etc etc. You can't really miss the masts because they have massive hitbox's. They need to be alot rarer where you only find a few over a session or something because they have completely killed ship on ship combat. We had loads of chain shots in like a 3 hour session thats stupid with how powerful they are

  • This along with firebombs, blunderbombs and cursed cannonballs need to be dialed back and only a few should be found per play session. The other day I stocked up on 84 firebombs in one play session. The chain shots are too common as well.

  • Chainshots are new so they put a bunch out so people can play with them easily...they will be dialed back after event just like the cursed balls were.

    The Firebombs were increased to help get the skeleton commendation for burning them. I'm sure we'll see those dialed back as well . To be honest though the Firebombs are more for panic then real damage.

  • They really arent, really hard to hit with and you have to be pretty close to the target

  • @itz-majman Well me and my crew had no problems hitting the masts with them brother close, medium range didn't make a difference when spammed. So that sounds like a you problem get that cannon shot practice in and you'll be immobilizing ships in seconds no problem. Blunderbomb as broken PvP aswell just spam them easy kill but thats a story for another day. Sea of spam i have no doubt all this stuff will be dialed back but how it managed to get out of insiders in it's current state is madness.

    I mean watch and move away from the ship so they can't hit you

  • I solo sloop primarily and chain shot is great. yes it makes fighting harder but I'm ok with that.

  • As with every single new update, spawn rates will be high. Once the event is over, they will be encountered less. I would also like to add, people have yet to learn how to adapt to the new game-play. Saying something is op when its just released is quite common on new updates. Just give it time, this was said about Cursed Cannonballs, fire, ship damage 2.0, and others.

  • @waronpants2664 This has nothing to do with learning. If you are referencing this is as the same as the other post, it's not. Being able to find 84 firebombs in one session is not ideal, as is that other post where the brig had a plethora of cursed cannonballs. These items should be rare, not as common as bananas.

  • @scallywagmango Rare or not, if they've been sailing long enough, they will likely stock up.

    Pirates just need to learn how to keep their distance and practice their longer range shots.

  • @galactic-geek Aye, as playing for hours can give you 500+ cannonballs. My play session I was referring to was only 40 mins. Almost every barrel I found had firebombs in them, as well as chain-shots and plenty of cursed cannonballs. I know it's a new feature, and I hope the spawn rate gets lowered in time. It would make combat more strategic if these resources were limited.

  • @scallywagmango They just don't understand pal do they lol they're not looking at the bigger picture. Spawned in earlier for 20 mins and had 35 chain shots its a joke. I've played for hours and hours before and never had that many anchor cursed cannonballs when thats essentially what 3 well placed chains shots is against a galleon or 2 or 1 depending on what ship you're fighting. So basically 1 chain shot = 1 Cursed anchor ball vs a sloop granted you can miss your shot but I've hit more mast than I've missed so far the hit box on the mast is huge you don't even need to hit the mast hitting the sail or the yard beam counts as a mast hit in most cases plus what a miss going to do when you have 100's in your barrel to spam. The chain shot needs to be alot rarer than it is right now. imo
