Add more settings for console players

Well whenever we add a feature, whether its "thats a PC feature; an Xbox feature" we always think "why isnt that on a console; why isnt it on a PC?"

Missing Settings on the Xbox One:

    • Resolution Limit
    • VSync
    • FPS lock
    • Perfomance Counters (FPS and Ping information)
    • Buffering
    • Resolution Scaling
    • Graphics Settings:
    1. Shadow Detail
      2. Model Detail
      3. Texture Detail
      4. Water Detail
      5. Lighting Detail

So why are those settings not on the consoles if you guys had a "parity approach"? The console versions suffer from perfomance issues and having these options would at least help us configure our game how we want to play. Be it lower FPS/great graphics or the other way around.

    Make it happen. Thanks.

Xbox doesn't need any of this added. The game works perfectly fine on Xbox servers without.

  • Well since no compromise cross play is out the window, why do you expect the rest to stick? Can't have your cake and eat it too :)

  • @bloodybil

I would be fine if crossplay opt-out were a thing. However if they want us to still use the mixed servers then these options are needed.

  • @chonky-lemon it is really simple why that is not present on an xbox but it is on a pc... Hardware
If a game loads on an xbox it recognises which Xbox it is (one, one s, one x etc) and knows what it can run at without frame drops, jittering or whatever.

The game cannot do that for pc because the variables are too huge:

    • cpu
    • gpu
    • memory
    • bus speeds on mainboard
    • what hdmi spec
      Etc etc etc

And thus pc players need more control, i play on way lower graphics settings on my laptop then on my desktop why ? Less powerfull gpu and memory on laptop.

About the framerate lock, that is in place to also prevent framedrops and jittery behaviour.

These features will not come to console because consoles are closed loop systems, hardare is set in stone by the manufacturer and in basis has nothing to do with parity about crossplay because it gives no advantage either way and also holds no value against or for having crossplay servers

  • @callmebackdraft

knows what it can run at without frame drops, jittering or whatever.

Not true. One X runs in 4k 30FPS with FPS drops and other issues. The game would run much better, probably even in 60FPS if it ran in 1080p on the One X. If the devs dont want to optimize it they should just give us these options.

  • @chonky-lemon its a simple choice to change your xbox resolution to 1080p

Console OS usually dont allow games to change the output resolution and all that, its a closed box, not in the devs hand

  • @callmebackdraft

Wrong again. One X enhanced games allow to change 4k to 1080p etc., which enables better perfomance.

    Monster Hunter World
    Hitman 2
    Shadow of the Tomb Raider
    Witcher 3

All games that allow to change your resolution to dumb up the FPS count. And Im sure there are more games that dont come to mind right now.

That's wrong. There are games that allow you to change graphics settings. chonky Lemon posted some.

Why not enable it for Xbox too though?

About the framerate lock, that is in place to also prevent framedrops and jittery behaviour.

Well, it's not working. Rare messed it up. Besides framerate locks do not prevent framedrops, they just make them less noticable.

These features will not come to console because consoles are closed loop systems,

What is a closed loop system? Did you just try to sound smart? ;)

Of course it does. It's not about giving advantages but lessen disadvantages.

    👏👏👏👏👏👏

  • @chonky-lemon
Yeah, I'm surprised we don't get a ping or fps counter at least. Rare should focus on adding stuff like this rather than balancing an opt out.

  • Apart from lowering the resolution, most of the graphic settings have been used by console players in the past to bring down the idea of cross-play because all players are on the same level. FPS games normally benefit when shadows are lowered/removed because models stand out more. People playing BR games like to turn off foliage.

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be an option to tone down the resolution but I think the other settings might not be ideal as M$ also wants to promote the game at a certain level and now have new players experience anything less than what they find to be ideal.

  • @needsmokes no it doesn't. I get jittering and poor response more often than not on xbox one. Turning off some these functions could help improve gameplay. It is also not 100 percent that i am on a non pc server. I wish we at least had the stat monitor so I could rule out bad network connectivity.
