Creator Crew - Can we expect some sort of support for external fan content?

    Just to preface - Yes I know a lot of people are uneasy about the announcement, but this thread isn't for that - I will personally wait until this shows up in Insiders before I assess and give feedback about how well I feel it fits into the world of Sea of Thieves.

    There still seems to be some ambiguity about the full scope of the Creator Crew, but it largely seems to focus on Streaming. Based on how Joe talked about it, I assume the program will launch as a support system for streamers and video content creators but I do think they should extend this support to a broader variety of creators.

    There are some very eager fan artists and musicians that would love to use the Creator Crew program with their own personal medium of creativity. I personally compose music, and sometimes I make video game arrangements. Music is my lifeblood, something I've been teaching myself to do since I was in middle school. I think it would be awesome as a musician to be able to bring that over to the Creator Crew program.

    I realize it's more conventional to focus on streamers with something like this as they're using the game and the tools within to create this content, but I do think Rare should explore some ways to include artists and musician in the Creator Crew mix!

    @chronodusk How would you envisage it? Like you make a cover of Becalmed, share it via social medias with a hashtag and then you got some doubloons or a title? Or more like a competition each week on a subject proposed by Rare? And the "best" gets to get promotion?

    I've been thinking about it - I do mention in my original post that I understand why it's more conventional to support Streamers in this manner since they're actually using the in game tools to create their content.

    I haven't come up with anything yet. It is perplexing indeed because I'm not sure how far they'd be willing to go to support this type of content.

    My suggestion was for them to assess their own limitations and abilities and explore the possibilities and try to come up with a way to include more types of creators.

    I don't think they have the manpower to vet any kind of external system to offer rewards for stuff like this unfortunately because everything would have to be done manually. Everyone likes to bring up how Rare is a small studio which is true, and I don't see how they could manage thousands of manual submissions into a program like this unless they just green light everything without review which kind of makes the entire thing pointless doesn't it?

    The Creator Crew is likely entirely focused around streaming, which can be pretty easy to perform criteria checks digitally if you link your streaming account to your SoT account (the same way Mixer loot works). If they can come up with some other automated way to support other works that'd be great but I think they are heavily relying on the work of other platforms (twitch, mixer, youtube) to verify.

    @xcalypt0x They could easily get you to log in or link your youtube account to your SoT/Microsoft account the same way they did with Twitch for the twitch drops stuff.

    I guess they could do this with any social media if they wanted specific information (# of subs/followers etc..).

    Rare has this obsession with streamers. Raw truth is most do not want to watch this game played by someone else. Millions passed on playing it themselves after trying it! There is no need for all this creator crew nonsense.

    Rare does not need to waste time or resources on this. They need to be making s better game. Stop the stale, boring, cloned, renamed, recolored, reskinned and now grindy voyages. Can’t even add new items. Going to be adding recolors of all that too.

    Grow and expanded the game. Give us truly new content updates. Allow us to sail past Athena 10 to truly legendary content, adventures and stories. Do that and the players will come and more importantly stay sailing.
