Fort Building

  • Just purchased the game after the anniversary update. Thought of something that could drastically improve gameplay.

Fort building. Each time you load into a server for Sea of Thieves there is either: a dedicated area for player islands, or they’re scattered about the rest of the islands. On map it shows their gamertag to show it’s a player owned island.

On your fort you can add cannons for defense, ports, ship yard for all your ships, a plunder room, resource rooms, etc. really the options are endless.

One final thing, you can opt to have your base being “raid-able” while in game which opens the island to other players but allows you to raid other players forts as well. Maybe you could “hire” skeletons or mates to defend your fort if you aren’t around. If you don’t opt in you can see other players forts but not raid and vice versa.

Think this would be a great addition to the game and would give even more reason to gather gold and resources.

  • so many questions....

    1. how would we obtain a fort?
    2. what happens when we log off?
    3. why would we keep the treasure in there instead of just selling it off immediately

I have a feeling you are not yet completely familiar on the game's mechanics yet.

Please elaborate on this, I am having a lot of trouble trying to connect it to current game... first time i read it my first though was "i think you are on the wrong forums"

  • I actuay think it would be a cool idea to have your own private area kind of how gta5 has houses where it stores your house data somewhere and when you get into a server it loads like you left it and maybe have the ability to go get planks and what not in the world to build more things in your environment and purchasable cosmetics in a cash shop

  • @dobie7227 welcome to Sea of Thieves 🙂

  • Sounds a lot like the game Rust....

So, you literally bought this game weeks ago (haven't bothered to count the exact time)... And decided to come with this suggestion that seems to shift the very genre of the game from "pirate simulator" to "Pirate tower defense"... I am quite confuzzled. xD

Sounds like the game you are looking for is Fallout 76, not Sea of Thieves, lol.

However, it might be an idea for Arena... sort of like a King of the Hill mode... But it would have to make use of larger crew sizes in order to successfully man a fort.

So yeah, i don't quite see how this suggestion fits into the game in it's current state, you may want to elaborate on the details. I'm quite sure hiring skeletons to man your fort is not only against the lore, but incredibly awkward mechanically.
