Ahoy!
Anyone else notice on PC that when you go to pull a fish from the pole it will occasionally not show the "F" button graphic and then you can't grab fish? The only way I have been able to resolve is to log off/on. This is opposite of good as you lose all bait, etc..
Fishing bug on PC
you can only hold 5 at a time. it appears a fish counts as a food item.
Example, if you are holding 5 bannanas, you can catch a fish but cant pull it off the pole until you eat a bannana.
Little dumb but thats how they have it set up right now. I would hope they would keep them seperate but guess not. since you can eat them to get health back i guess they want to keep it so someone isnt eating bannanas and fish and fruit etc during fights to essentially never die.If you catch a fish but cant take it off the pole, go back into your inventory and eat some other food so you clear out a slot for the newly caught fish. if you switch from the pole you wont lose the fish

Not gonna lie. I laughed pretty hard at you just now. Not in a bad way. I played with different people today, all from the crews that I play with normally.
We all did the SAME exact thing you did.
I did it first. "What the?? why can't I grab this thing?? Crud, do I have too many other stuff? Wait how do I get rid of the other stuff......CREW MATE TAKE THIS FISH IM AFRAID IM GONNA LOSE IT" I then proceed to chase my crew mate for about 20mins while he refuses to take my fish because hes being a jerk.
Next up is all my crew mates 1 by 1 by 1 by 1. Every single time. "I think I'm bugged?" - why?? - "I can't grab this fish I caught" - Oh yeah thats a known issue, the fix is to jump into the water 10 times and it should work. -
They jump into the water 10 times. "Its not working" - You must not be doing it right. You have to jump while spinning. - They jump while spinning - "STILL NOT WORKING" - Were you facing west?
lololololololol......Lets just say I had a good time messing with my mates :):)
So seeing this post brought up fond memories and I had a chuckle at you at your expense :).

@shuoink just for future reference....You don't have to eat a banana just to make space. You can still use the barrels on your ship to put a food item away to make room. The fish will stay on your rod until you or someone else removes it. You may know that but for those who read the thread, no need to waste food 😏

that is correct, i failed to mention you could store everything in barrels including fish.
the real great part is fish are like chests, when someone on the crew turns one in you all get the credit@iii-three-iii This also happens to me on xbox, and I have no X button option to "pickup" the fish off the pole.
If I have to log off/on everytime to fish just to "try" and get the button to work, then this game feature is broken so bad, it's worthless to me.
Wow, glad I finally was able to read other reply's after opening this thread and posting a reply. So I tried and placed some food items into the barrel and that finally allowed me to "pickup" the fish. There are always nuances to this game that make you go hmmm.@cohiba said in Fishing bug on PC:
