Streaming FPS issue

  • So, I've seen a few posts here and there about this, but they never seem to end in a solution, so I figured I'd post again since I know for a fact that it can be accomplished.

I have a 2pc setup for streaming with an elgato HD60 internal card in the streaming PC and a 2080Ti in the gaming PC. I've seen other streamers with 2pc setups and they are getting 150+ frames on their gaming PC, but I seem to be locked at 60fps (1080).

I'm cloning my main monitor (Asus ROG Swift PG278Q) with the elgato card and when running the game full screen i'm locked to 60fps (1080). When windowed, it goes up to over 200. When I'm not cloning the monitor to the elgato it's also over 200. Only when cloning does it get locked to 60fps. I've made sure that the Nvidia control panel shows 144hz.

Now, as I stated, I know this can be fixed because I've seen others with 2pc setups and their fps counters are not locked at 60. Does anyone have any idea how to correct this?

    Thanks!~

  • @grimtoc Is V-Sync on in the game and in Nvidia control panel?

  • What @GuldLasse said. I noticed when running V-sync with G-syng I'm getting locked at 60 frames. I think you need to turn off V-sync and lock your frame-rate in game to equal or less than your monitor's max refresh rate.

  • @Grimtoc
This is tough, and I don't think there is a good fix.
Posts like these are all over and may be a limitation of mirroring to the elgato (a 60fps device).

Are you sure people are running two computer setups for >60 fps? Is there an example?

    Try this guide ?

    For other readers:

These are the settings you want to "unlock" fps without screen tearing

    nvidia control panel:

    • gsync on windowed and fullscreen
    • global settings vertical sync on

    In game

    • vsync off

    Reasoning here:

  • V-Sync is off both in game and through the NV control panel. G-Sync has been tried both on and off and nada.

Yes, I'm sure that other streamers are using a two PC setup and cloning while getting >60 fps (KingGothalion). The only difference I can tell is he is using the 4k60pro. However, looking at its stats, it should still capture 1080 at 60 (unless i'm reading it wrong), making it the same as the hd60.

I'm in the same boat with dyfrin, thinking it's an elgato limitation in cloning the monitor.

Thanks for those that have responded though. Gotten more info than other posts I've found!!

Great, I'm sure the many others in the same boat would love to hear the resolution.

I checked out KingGothalions setup here and he mentions a Pro Capture Quad from Magwell.
It's quite a bit more expensive than the HD60 even the 4khd60, and may not limit frames.

If that guide doesn't work, maybe contact elgato support themselves asking if there is a fix.

Not sure if he's changed that since then, but he's got a whole new capture PC and a new streaming PC as of a few days ago. I thought he said recently (and his twitch) has the 4k60 since he was wanting to break into 4k streaming and about to get his BFGD. I hadn't seen that video either, so this is all good info!
