False reports and discrimination?

  • I was playing Sea of Thieves this morning when my original crew left and I was joined by a 3 pc players. I told them I was going to go make breakfast (As I'd been up all night and was getting hungry) I came back to being brigged while they accused me of AFK farming and that they were all reporting me. I was then told "Kill Yourself" and "You want a banana, you monkey?" They then reverse bucketed water into the hold until i drowned. How do I avoid a ban when I'm being ganged up on by PC players?

Ahoy there, if you've encountered any incidents on the seas you're able to report players using these methods - include as much detail as you can including any recordings or other details.

  • Thanks! My next concern is that I'll be banned for something I didn't do.

  • @ltemplarknightl

All we can suggest is to make the report and submit any evidence you have, Rare staff will look closely at any data and aren't likely to ban players unless the evidence is clear cut which includes yourself.

  • Thank you so much for your help! Unfortunately the only evidence I was able to get was the screen shot of one of them telling me to kill myself :(

  • You can't avoid toxicity but can only report it.
There's a tendency to distrust other players in the world...by design and by poor design.
Just the nature of the digital divide.

If ever brig'd...just leave the server and rejoin.
Having the vote to brig is a power that they have and, in their eyes, justifiable.

  • I think it is a duty as a ''good player'' to take the time and report this kind of behavior.
This is for the future of this community.

So if you report them i support you.

I also think there is a lack of a tutorial with a focus on the communication and behavior between pirates. Of course that's in the adventure mode, with ARENA coming i think we need to encourage player to being a ''good sport'', there will be winner and losers we don't want them to fight verbaly either because they can't take a loss and having the winners boasting their victory, just saying ''Good Game'' or things like''you got me there, i will have my revenge you sea dog'' is good enough to have fun in a competitive vibe.

take care and see you on the seas!

  • Oh they been mean to me, evil PC players

  • My advise is to get proof. Hit the Xbox clip and get them on audio saying that stuff. Otherwise them might have footage of you being afk for a certain amount of time. And it doesn’t look so good on your end

  • @ltemplarknightl Include a time and date in your report. Explain the situation, attach the screenshot and their tags if you have it (do not post those here).

Rare has records of their own, providing details and they should be able to match those with any reports they might have done.

On a side note: Not exactly sure what their gaming platform has anything to do with them being rude. I for one am a PC player, does that make me a .... as well? 'cause by specifying not just players, but PC players it is clearly the mouse and keyboard that are turning them to act that way and not their personality.

  • @ltemplarknightl I doubt they will go by one instance for a ban. The reports might put you on a watch list or something but you shouldn't be afraid of a ban or anything. I doubt Rare bans first time offenders or even people who only get reported once a blue moon.

I do have 2 issues with your post though.

    1. Why did you have to make sure you pointed out they were PC players? Your whole post would have had the same affect without that clarification. Which makes me wonder the validity of the story. Kinda looks like as if you were trying to just add propaganda to the "PC Hate" train we got going on right now.

    2. You usually have 10mins before the game decides to kick you for Lazybeard. You clarified you went to go get breakfast. Did you make sure that they knew you were leaving? Did you rubber band your control to make sure you didn't get kicked?

I'm not trying to blame you but hear me out. I sometimes run into people who tell me they are going to the bathroom, or getting something to eat, and they will rubber band their controller in a way to make it look like its not rubber banded. Then they stay gone and afk leech.

Anyone saying they are going to step off for just a second while rubber banding their controller is a sign that the crew is about to get afk'ed trolled.

So I'm not saying you did, but if you did rubber band your controller. Just make sure to not do that next time.

I don't care who is on my crew or if they were only gone for 10 seconds. If I see a rubber band without being informed I will brig and report. I'm more willing to have the person get kicked from afk timer and then we just reinvite him when he gets back. If he lets me know how long he might be before he leaves, I'll leave the spot available. If hes gone for longer I fill it up.

Rubber band gets insta brigged and reported.
