A way for alliance ships to communicate from across the sea

I assume the rider flag is seen on the map.

Sending messages between ships suggestion comes up a lot. Think we should also have a way to write messages to each other. Carrier parrots are obvious choice. However, I came up with a hermit crab idea

The hermit crab sits up on the railing in front of the helm. When you interact with it, it tucks the message under its shell. It crawls to the side of the ship and drops off. Then it crawls moments later up the ladder on the receiving ship, up on the same railing pulling the message out if that ship’s crab is away of hands it off to the waiting crab to deliver.

Could use a radial messages for basic canned messages. Maybe on PC also allow short messages to be typed.

Could also have signal flags that have defined meanings as you suggested. Could be used in the way intended, as a lure, or a come sink me as some here pointed out.

Lol! No particle transporters need to be installed on any ships.

The crabs drop overboard and climb up the ladders like we do. The perception is they swim/crawl under the sea from ship to ship.

That way the messages can move back and forth not breaking immersion. Birds would have to fly further away before going out of sight. Probably would not have such things actually taking the time to move the actual distance.

Messenger hermit crabs are wacky and whimsical like other things in the world of SoT. They would fit. Besides they need jobs too.

A way to communicate across the seas would be great between ships within the game.

In the mean time, a way to view the "Alliance Crew" within your menu like you can with your own crew and allow you to easily find them and send an Xbox Live Message would also be beneficial.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or posted anywhere. My idea is not necessarily for a crab, but more of a Parrot or Mockingbird that would be free for everyone.
*The bird would be perched on the ship somewhere in a designated resting location
*You go and interact with the bird
*First choice through pop up box would be to record a message or pre-recorded message.
*IF through recorded voice, you say what you want to say to the other ship (this would be a voice message system based on the in game chat system)
*ELSE IF through pre-recorded message, more options become available like:

• We need help!
• Meet at/near blank outpost
• Care to join for Skull Fort/Skelly Ships?

*THEN the bird would repeat once
*You confirm the message
*The bird would ask you where you want to send it by giving you a popup box with options for one of your alliance ships
*The bird would arrive and perch at the desired ship on the designated message received location
*The bird would playback the message you have chosen to the one crew member interacting with the bird, or to the whole crew in proximity to the bird. Either one would work.

@techdragon24 a mocking bird would be way cool! Super idea! A mocking bird would absolutely have to be voiced and sound like a pirate. Arrgh!
