A New Mechanic to enhance PVP Experience for all?

  • While playing Sea Of Thieves I've noticed you meet one of three players:

    1. Friendly Pirates minding their own business or offering to aid you
    2. Pirates looking to steal your loot
    3. Aggressive Pirates who live and breathe death. Like don't even take your loot, just go around on servers killing any other pirate they can find.

    I was thinking a rather fun mechanic is to give the SUPER aggressive pirates the "skeleton curse". So say a Pirate is going around killing other pirates and nothing else. When the player DOES die, they shouldn't respawn on the Ferry; they should awake, marooned on an island (with ship) as a skeleton. This should give them both buffs and debuffs as well, such as not being able to go to outposts or sell items. But buffs would include other skeletons not targeting that player right away. (So they do get targeted, but not right away. Not a priority.)
    Other players could be given a bounty mission and get a villainous skull for killing them, or so on. I feel like it would make the whole pvp more rewarding and kind of open up a new way of playing. Players could create their OWN skeleton pirate crews with friends and be a fun and challenging foe for those looking for them.
    And it won't be like super OP, so when they die their skeleton-ness goes away and they respawn on ferry and have to start their player slaughter all over again to reach their level.

    tl;dr: High PVP Pirates should be given 'Skeleton Curse' after say 50 pvp kills per session, with high bounty on their head to reward other players for killing them. Should be thought of as a "Player Boss".

  • This is a unique idea, I like it. It needs to be flesh out a bit more thou. Like whats the reward/incentives for become a skelly and beating hunter pirates? How many hunter pirates do you have to kill or will there be a hard time limit? What about ship combat? What buffs exactly? Can we choose skelly forms like gold or shadow? How will this effect players in the server as there will be 1 less ship and crew on the map? How will hunter pirates find you?
