A friend and I sailed to The Wilds last night for a good old-fashioned Skelly battle. There was a brig already there and we allied with them. They were an awesome group of pirates, and when our sloop was cursed with sails up, getting pelted by two skelly ships, the brig sailed in range just to take some of the cannonfire off of us. As the captain fell, and the loot began to float to the top, a sloop pulled up, with a shiny unicorn figurehead and the Athena's sails.
"Hey" the sloop called. "Do you guys want to help us on an Athena's voyage? We have 3 maps left."
Suspicious. At least one person on this ship was a PL, level 7 Athena to have those sails and that figurehead, and you need help? Unlikely.
As my sloop partner and the brig began loading loot onboard, I watched the sloop closely. Sure enough, as the one person continued talking about his Athena voyage and showing us an OOS mission (distraction tactic), the other crew member began jumping into the water, grabbing the skulls and loading them onboard.
One of the guys from the brig made a kind offer, "If you're gonna take loot, at least join the alliance." I thought this offer was really nice. The sloop hadn't shown up until after all ships were sunk and the brig was still offering to share the loot. The sloops response? Drop sail and run.
A very short chase and a couple of kills left the sloop headed to the ocean floor while the two sloop members whined from the water next to our sloop. "You guys are [expletive]. We didn't do anything to you." I replied, "you literally took our loot and sailed off, what do you mean?" To which he replied "We came to help you with the skeleton ships but you were already done when we got there." I said, "yeah and then you stole the loot, refused to join the alliance, and tried to leave."
He continued trying to say he did nothing wrong but my friend had heard enough and sniped both of them. We called the brig over to grab some of the loot that floated up from the sloop, which was 3 of the skeleton captain skulls, and a bunch of hateful skulls.
Anyway, I just thought it was funny that this slippery sloop feigned innocence after their antics. At least own up to what you tried to do lol.
