Imagine if the game had a PvE mode...

  • @navarita I'm sorry, the game does not need a PvE only mode. The only tweak I'd like is a simple Solo only Sloops and at least you know you'd be 1v1 in most cases. I spawned this weekend as a Solo only and was attacked by a Solo only. I didn't even fire on the ship. He sank me and then came around an pretty much sunk his ship in the island. I attacked him and killed him. As far as I'm concerned, he sank my ship and his and I killed him. I WIN. :) Point is it was 1v1 and even at least, not 1v2 or 1v4.

  • To the people who say this game is doing terrible; then why are people buying Chips Ahoy codes on EBay? Why are people still buying the SoT controller?

When I look up game items on eBay it sure looks like the game is doing well to me.

  • You can have a PVE only mode but the GH, OoS, and MA are staying with us.

    Enjoy your leisure cruise! :)

  • @howlingfj0rd the PvP aspect of this game sucks. It's not the core of the game. Exploration is the core of the game. PvP kills it. If PvP is so dominant why would you care if there were PvE servers? This topic will never go away unless Rare block it. The whole idea of pirates attacking each other is a bit ridiculous. Pirates generally didn't fight each other. They attacked merchant vessels. Not other heavily armed pirate crews. This game needs to lose PvP entirely and bring in merchant npc ships and pirate hunter ships like AC Black Flag. Players who prefer PvP can go all out on merchant convoys for gold and face pirate hunters for their crimes. Then the solo slooping explores can go about their business without being chased them all over the map. Rare had an opportunity to do something different with online play by bringing players together as a team to fight the NPC man and share his loot. Instead we get an empty world where there is nothing to do except grief players, or get griefed by players. I love the core of this game 'EXPLORATION.' Allowing players to murder each other shows no imagination in an online world
already dominated by digital massacres. Rare could have started a revolution. All they have done is make a mess. Pirates don't fight pirates.

  • @qu1etone I think this is the game you're looking for, because what you described certainly isn't SoT.

  • Imagine if people stopped crying about a game and trying to change said game into an entire different game..... Just IMAGINE!

  • the tense nature and risk/reward aspect is what makes this game different every time I play it. otherwise it would truly be dull. if there were AI ships it would be another matter but that ain't happening.

  • @blackbeard-lufy I played the windwaker more than once. Bloody good game. Sea of thieves isn't anything right now. Rare don't know what they're doing with it. Fighting the Megalodon is a case in point. They want crews to come together and fight side by side. What do we get in actuality. One or two days of seemingly Co-op play, then griefers come out and camp waiting for others who are trying to beat the shark. This games a bloody mess. Maybe in a year it might be worth playing. Right now it's a griefing grinding nightmare.

  • @knightfire098 You think countless developer mentions in videos and articles about the game play aren’t marketing? You think all of the box art and pictures of pirates and ships in mid combat aren’t marketing? You’re doubling down on a stand that just has no legs to it. You don’t need anyone to link anything, what the game is about is all pretty plain to see and understand as a person purchasing games for their hobby. You just really want to twist things to support your argument.

How about you come back and link any article or marketing that would lead you to believe it’s a touring the seas safely by yourself game. Support your own argument because you haven’t yet.

  • @navarita it isn't worth it. There are a lot more playing because of pvp component. Both coexist, that's the only way this game could work

  • @hynieth said in Imagine if the game had a PvE mode...:

Maybe add a ship type that's even more like a paper airplane quick and nimble but dangerously fragile so you can escape more easily.

    I would love this.

Heck, I'd be willing to trade in all my cannons if I had a super fast and nimble ship.

  • @knightfire098
So we show you some facts but thats not good enough huh? I guess the devs dont know what they are doin then

  • @qu1etone
Players are the threat in this game. Not NPCs. Exploration AND pvp are the cores of this game. Rare knows exactly what they are doing. You just cant stand the truth. Better learn to live with it or move on

  • @gutterangel For the most part you are right. If you want to avoid combat it's not terribly difficult but getting attacked or sunk while working an island or not on board your ship (esp. if trying to play solo a bit) is about the least fun thing in a game ever.

The game is exponentially better if you can find at least one friend or open yourself up to meeting or playing with more like minded people online. It's not easy - LFG on XBOX is populated by some of humanity's real charmers and best representatives, but keep looking and your average will probably move up. There seem to be a handful of welcoming clans out there too if you can find the right one, if not a reliable IRL buddy.

  • @knightfire098 You can be certain about my personal life all you want. I'm flattered I'm in your thoughts on such a personal level so soon in this forum relationship.

You try to belittle me with an insult, because you have no argument here. Nothing in the marketing overshadows the other, it's all for the same game. Ignore facts and logic all you want, it's obvious you're being oblivious to it all and will continue down this path to no end.

  • @merlin-mav-k Yea it's a blast playing in pre-made crews. I've met a lot people from the offficial discord, the reddit discord, and xbox lfg. Only a couple of those crews were bad together.

Now with the trumpet I'm meeting more people on the sea and not just sinking everyone that approaches or finds themselves being approached by us.

I do remember that c****y feeling when I first lost treasures or sunk those few days. I learned from it and kept playing and having fun, even if there was no treasure to turn in at the end of the session. Realized the treasures are just a component to having a good time, didn't attach any personal value to it anymore. Haven't had a single session that's felt like a "grind". Not legend yet and not anxious to be legend ever really. I'm rocking that sweet Hungering Deep title and figurehead. ;)
