Ultra Rare Chests

  • So The Hungering Deep is out and people are complaining because there is no incentive to replaying the quest. I also believe that it is sort of silly to put all that time and effort into creating the expansion for a single week's play. Makes no sense. So, why doesn't RARE adopt a schematic that works in other MMO's? They should have ultra rare chests potentially drop after completing the quest. This would give people incentive for playing it over and over again in hopes that they have a chance to get a chest worth playing for. Doesn't it make sense for keeping people interested?

  • @markglow But the incentive to help others and make friends and have great stories?
you dont have to be rewarded gold for everything you do.

Basically thats whats wrong with gaming nowadays. Gratification has been turned into getting things, not feeling the sense of accomplishing something.

  • @lucky-monkee

I understand your point, but that is not how things are, people want incentive for doing things. People are interested in accomplishing a mission and getting rewarded for said mission. A good guy pat on the back is not sufficient reward for most people, it's a fact!

  • Easy fix....let players collect the jaws from the Meg and sell them.....Meg steak should be a commodity to sell to the merchants..how about when the Meg dies, it spills all the treasures from the ships its eaten in its lifetime....

  • @zebulon-leee

    I like it!

  • @lucky-monkee
    Well said.
I’ve played that quest 3 times already, had a different experience each time and loved it.

  • @lucky-monkee uhh, that definitely not enough for some people, myself included. if that's enough for you? great i guess, but me and many others are left high and dry by that mentality. besides, it wouldn't hurt you either way if they added rewards for stuff like this, you would still enjoy it just to enjoy it. while we would enjoy it AND get rewarded, it's a win win.

  • @zebulon-leee
That is brilliant! Jaws go to OoS, meat to the MA & swallowed treasure to GH. It’s perfect

  • I think it be cool if you got a box of supplies (like skulls or merchant boxes or chests) but it was random, that way the fights worth it and you get a little haul to help your factions, it can be random though with maybe a dudd box of explosive barrels

  • the answer is simple, no, the developers do not want any element in play that breaks the symmetry between the people, we all have the right to have the same and in the same way. What you propose will make a difference between those who have had the luck and / or the time to play more than others, therefore it is not an element to consider within the game .... I am sorry for you and for all those who can not enjoy the adventure and require an incentive ... but you have two options or you get used to or suffer for it ... good luck ...

  • @zebulon-leee Even if it tied into the fishing that so many people wanted, spills out fish that can be sold to merchant.

  • something else and just to remember all this has already been said not now and will continue to be so ... so please stop trying to introduce old and obsolete game mechanics, we are witnessing a new generation of video games where Sea of Thieves is the only reference at the moment. I'll leave the list to everything that has been said and I'll say no ...

separate servers for pve and pvp
    offline servers
    pve servers
    stats and progression by loot
    possibility to select the server
    dropping probability of items
    class system
    class specialization
    games in battle royale mode

  • @jack-littleshoe Sure I was disappointed not to get anything the second time. I am in the loop as well.
But that does not mean it should be like that.

I am complaining about the overall industry here. Satisfaction and gratification is a complicated thing and once you get people hooked one way its hard to change the pattern.

  • @lucky-monkee i'm not asking them to do anything they aren't already doing. we already have chests/skulls/animals that give us rep and money so if they add teeth and eyes and other animal parts that could drop from the meg and the kraken i don't see what the problem would be with that being our reward. maybe even make it so we can choose which company to turn them into, that way we can decide what one we want to gain rep with. anything would be better than them spending all their time and energy on a one shot boss that won't have any useful rewards after you've already killed it once.

  • The Meg rewards you with a fleet. Keeping that fleet together to cause mischief on the server after the event is down to your social skills and the predilections of your allies.

The rewards of rolling around in a flotilla demanding that other ships join, offer tribute or die are priceless.

  • @markglow I dont think a huge amount of work went into the campaign itself tbh since it's all text based. It's just a cool way to showcase the new content.

But yeah i agree that there should be some more incentive to do the encounter more than once. On launch day everyone was hanging around shark bait cove but now there's no one really xD And if you want to do it again it might be hard to find another crew. If not, they should just make the event last 1 week instead so we can get the content into the actual gameplay as quick as possible :)

Then you are playing the wrong game. If people can't have fun in SoT they lack an imagination not every game needs to hold your hand all the way through......You add rewards people will be camping t26 and sinking ships and stealing all the reward. basically if you add rewards it will kill the thing that brought people together. Do you really think in SoT if you had 3-4 ships attacking the megalodon and it dropped a rare chest it would end so peacefully? no. that's why I loved it sooooo much it actually forced people to play nice I've went 2 days without engaging in PvP and helping people and its a good feeling.

  • @skritsarn its 2 weeks?

  • @ve111a first of all, the meg probably won't be a summonable thing once THD is over, it will probably be an encounter like the kraken, so people camping it wouldn't happen. second of all, people who don't have fun in SoT don't lack imagination, they just have higher standards for games than you do. the mark of a good mmo, even a quasi mmo like this is that you CAN have fun with friends, sadly this is a game right now where you NEED friends to have fun. also, i can literally go play AC blackflag or blackwake and have a deep gameplay experience while still being able to use my imagination to come up with new and fun ideas. so don't tell me they can't add depth to this game that is severely lacking it currently. and that IS what i have been doing, and it is what countless others have done. that doesn't mean i hate this game, i personally think it has a lot of potential, but that's all it has right now, potential, it hasn't realized anything yet.

PS, loot doesn't always mean that people will fight over it, i've done a few skeleton forts where we've worked with another crew and split the reward evenly.

  • @markglow Hopefully Rare sees this on Reddit.

I think community rewards and cooperation are the way to go.

They would need to really think about how to implement it... It would go from, "let's team up!" to "we killed the megaladon, now sink the other ships asap so we can get the loot!"

F*S please, just stop. the game is MONOTONOUS! It's the same damn thing over and over and over and over and over and the only true variation comes from ship battles. Even that wares thin after a while.

So what if I made friends, now we all can go dig up treasures and kill skeletons repeatedly. WOW, so exciting! So what if I killed the shark... hey, I accomplished something. You want me to do it again? What exactly am I accomplishing by repeating this stupid quest? What intrinsic value am I getting out of this? Nothing, except this nebulous make friends have and have adventures. How many times can you dig up a treasure or kill a skeleton before it's old. I think for me it was right around 500.

Just stop with these lame responses. This game fell so short on content and this DLC did nothing to change that. A great sandbox, but an empty sandbox none the less.

  • @captainkashus All you seem to want to do is complain. Why do you bother then?

@captainkashus All you seem to want to do is complain. Why do you bother then?

Because I want the game to better than it is, since I paid $60 for it. That's why. I earned my right be frustrated and express my discontent. I have also offered solutions in several posts, but I am done being a Rare lemming.

  • @captainkashus I won't argue with you. everyone wants different things, but that does not make my answer lame.

I come back to play with friends every time. because I have fun with them, we make our own adventures.

Lets take another game... destiny, its lame as hell alone, its the same thing over and over again. When with friends its better.
GTA its the f****g same thing day in, day out.

I guess you never played with legos. its the same blocks every single time.

You proved my point with the legos reference. I loved playing with legos as a kid. Because I could build anything with those legos. Legos were great because there so many different types of block sizes, block types, colors, etc. We had enough pieces, interchangeable, and imagination to build whatever we wanted. But this game just does not offer that. It's like buying a huge lego set and come to find out that it's all glued together, with only 3 interchangeable parts. There's only so many permutations for those 3 parts, pretty as they may be.

  • @mhulhavhaka @Ve111a let me just leave this here....

Sure the article is 2 months old but they have developers quoted as having loot from the Kraken. I get that "plans" are subject to change. But you guys "claiming" its not what developers want or intended, are clearly wrong.

No I am not you are clearly pulling at straws here. The Kraken is a random encounter, completely different then a timed event focused on communication (hence the speaking trumpet) and cooperation (hence requiring 5, larger than any crew). What the developers want is what they did with THD, That's why the did it.

  • @ve111a so you believe that The Meg is going to disappear after it's 2 week debut? I think not.

To be fiar you make some good point about the camping. But I believe it will morph into a random encounter, at which point why not drop something random?

  • @trophy-un1ocked said in Ultra Rare Chests:

no then things will change and its not a timed event now is it? It's been confirmed it will persist.

  • @captainkashus
And you proved mine, basically saying you need a lot of pieces. You don't. Sometimes you only need the lego man and one or two pieces.
