So I was at an outpost and I came across 2 players in a sloop. They were just sitting there on the boat and I kept slashing them with my sword hitting them back... Yet none of them died and they just kept running around.
Was there an update that make players immortal near outposts that I didn't read? If not what the hell is going on? A hack?

Not a troll post but if they were immortal why would they run?

No bananas they were just standing there empty handed. I have been playing this game for a decent amount of time. It wasn't normal. Either they were hacking and made themselves immortal or there was an update that stops damage at outpost which would be stupid.
It was definitely not lag either. I had 3 other teammates hitting them as well and not doing damage.

It sounds like it was a couple of our pc hacking friends.
You'll get asked by the non believers for proof, don't post any as it's against forum rules!
You'll also get told it's lag, or poor connection, very doubtful. (EDIT - looks like i was beaten to it!)

@logansdadtoo Yeah definetly wasn't a connection issue. I have 1 gig/s internet speed and it's hard wired. My teammates were unable to damage it.
Unfortunately all I got was 1 players name, I did note the timestamp in my report. Hoping the team can go into the player logs and see something is off.

I doubt it was lag, there is a pretty significant difference between latency issues and someone who seemingly has more hit points than everyone else. The cheaters I have run into don't have a god mode, but they take a crazy amount of damage to take out. They also move slightly faster than is possible normally, but not a huge difference you would always notice unless running right next to or behind one.
I know lag exists, but when someone climbs the ladder to your ship, can take two blunderbuss shots and a rifle shot, be knocked off the ladder and still grab back on each time mid air without eating a banana and keep climbing at you, I call shenanigans.
If you run into this sort of stuff, do as suggested above and report them. If they are not cheating they won't be in trouble, but if they are they need to be dealt with swiftly and the best way to do this is via support.
I don't think it is due to lag. I experienced the exact same thing last week and I have a video as a proof of my two crewmates and I shooting and slashing a guy on an outpost for about 1 minute without anything happening. He just moves away from us from time to time but doesn't take any damage. He doesn't eat bananas and is steady most of the time so I know we weren't missing shots.
I haven't submitted a report yet since I'm taking a break from the game but I should.
100% this is due to server cross platform lag - not cheats. Killed a legendary pirate other day and 2 team players saw him die - animation appeared. A second later he was jumping around on our boat.
It happens a lot in all games especially when people are playing all over the world. It's even worse with Xbox and PC players all on same server. If you are on PC play with PC players only. It helps.
