Riddles should include a chest AND a map

  • Riddles take a lot of energy and only will ever give you one chest per voyage, yet maps can include one chest or more for a lot less work. It should seem that riddles should lead to maps for all the work you put in.

  • The riddles are pretty easy tbh. Its not like they take hours to complete. I don't think we need extras for a task that at most takes 3 minutes longer than a regular map.

  • i actually agree, though i would prefer it to be a standard thing now that once you reach the location you can dig around the spot specified for up to three extra chests. not sure how that programming and spawning logic would work.

  • I think it would be cool if some of the riddles sent you to multiple islands. Make it a real voyage. Would also be nice if instead of it just saying "Go to X island" it should be some riddle hinting at its name or shape.

Or if the really long riddles would lead to a stash so instead of digging you do whatever the last thing says to do, the map does its glowy thing and then it reveals like a stash of 2 chests or crates of spice/silk/whatever. I guess technically the crates wouldn't go towards the faction but you get the idea.

  • @horizonlegendo Riddles certainly need to be buffed to make them attractive. We've been having a discussion on how to make riddles better in another thread that you might be interested in: https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/45028/suggestion-scale-riddle-quest-rewards-with-the-speed-with-which-you-solve-them

The short version: buff riddle voyage rewards by increasing the value of the chests according to how quickly you solve the riddle. That single chest is worth 3-5x its normal value upon making landfall on the riddle island, but decays towards regular value the longer you take.

In my opinion, this would make riddles both more rewarding, and more interesting from a gameplay perspective.
