Increase to Reputation Gains

  • After reaching level 20 in all factions, it has become increasingly difficult to level up and progress through the game. This slow reputation gains increases player frustration and boredom. My group has stopped playing the game because we don't believe that the grinding required to reach pirate legend is worth it. (A captain's chest gives next to no reputation.) Therefore an increase to reputation gains would satisfy those who want to continue progressing through the game and replayability.

  • @the-ta11-ninja I like the idea of keeping the gains the same but giving you more oportunities to receive reputation. For example say you're the only person in the crew finding chests so you get some rep. for it. Same goes for killing skeletons, discovering points of interest, sailing for long distances etc etc

  • @the-ta11-ninja
Yeah it’s like you hit a wall at 20!

  • We be good it items you find on islands/shipwrecks gave you double the rep, if not more. Making it more rewarding/compelling to search while on voyages

  • It's a bigger wall @ 30 🙏

  • @teasingdrath try 35

  • @the-ta11-ninja I hear you, I'm at ranks 30/27/34 and believe me the grind gets worse and worse. I'll probably go up half a rank a day with one faction at the mo. That's over 100 days of play to get to pirate legend of the rep gain grind stayed as it is right now but we all know the higher you climb in the ranks the bigger the grind will be.
I'm not in a an all out rush to max out my ranks but it would be nice to feel like I was actually getting somewhere after a long play session.

That would undermine the purpose of a crew. A good crew always leave one man behind on ship to lookout for and defend against other pirates. Should that player not get rewarded equaly as the searching crew?... nahh..I dont like that idea much.
If a players only purpose in this game is to grind as fast as possible just to gain that legendary rank and dont enjoy the rest of the game then they gona hit that wall.. and thats good.
If 90% of the players sailed around as legends after a few weeks of play then that "legendary" rank would be more useless then it already is. ;)

  • @xklix the other player left behind would get rewarded for fending off other pirates. My point was I'd like to see more chances to gain rep rather than just delivering chests. Even when the "voyage complete" message appears there isn't a reward currently

  • @nikinjapan I agree that there could be more ways to gain rep. But the crew needs to be rewarded equaly for each action/mission.
Worst issue now is that Solo players will take much longer time to gain gold and Rep then bigger crews. It sure is fun to sail with some friends in crew now and then, but i realy enjoy my solo voyages too. Even though i know it wil take me 3-4 times the time to gain the same rep and gold. But thats my choise ofcourse ;)

  • I would love to see not only more ways to gain rep, but bonus rep for finishing a voyage.

Right now the game incentivizes optimizing around only loot. No golden chickens? Cancel the voyage. Only riddles? Cancel the voyage.

If voyages gave reputation that scaled based on the complexity and not only the pay-out I think more of them would be worth doing. If you did six 5-part riddles and only got 5 castaways chest, but got enough bonus reputation from the riddles that it was just as worthwhile as a voyage full of small islands with five X's each, suddenly that's a trade-off that makes the voyage worth considering.
