    Again,,,, Examples????

    Examples of what?

People hyping the game up on the forums via their own delusions prior to launch? Lol... I could search posts regarding Beta content right now and have an endless supply of users shouting back at the OP about the beta/alpha only having "10% of the full game's content". Maybe you weren't here for that timeframe, or you're just looking for a strawman, but if you wanna take a look, go for it.

I have no idea who that is, but I love this game.

A guy who I am surprised people take serious. He contradicts himself a ton. He is definitely entitled to his opinion, but I stopped watching after, I believe, was the Shadow of War review. Mentioned the game crashed on him multiple times, but it was on his end as to the reasons so it wouldn't fit in the review (some program he was using). At the end, he took the crashes into consideration anyway, even though he said it was his fault. He makes no sense. I won't watch this one, some of his can be good and I can agree with, but after all the contradictions he does, I was done with him. This game can take all the negativity in the world, but I have my own mind and will continue to enjoy it regardless how others feel about it. It don't affect me.

So you didn't watch it and still have an opinion on the quality of the review?

  • @firetadpole7469 I think some fanboys practially created a myth that what we saw was just a very small portion of the launch content despite Rare not confirming this, rather confirming what actually aproximately is in there.

I dont know anything about Angry Joe but I feel that someone who takes fanboys word for true and feels "ripped off" either has a lot to work with when it comes to being a journalist and doing reviews, or maybe should find another means of making a living.

  • @simply-nephalem Rare did hype this game to the sky.

I really don't remember this tbh. They just released information about the game in dev blogs each week, describing the things you could do in the game. You can do all those things... it's exactly how they made it sound. I don't understand why anyone believed they hyped it :S I think it's more down to the media and gamers misunderstanding. Probably because "hur der, PIRATES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"

  • @firetadpole7469 Yeah he obviously didn't follow the game much prior to release as everything was laid out pretty clear as to what we were getting in the game at release. Some of his complaints echo that of the community, like the respawning of people when you sink them with them coming back so soon and with a full restock of supplies, but he was saying it was getting old as the video showed him just hitting level 5 rep. Like, did he only play it for like half an hour at that point or something?

  • As long as they add content they will be fine. Game worth every $.

  • @face-0-o

What did RARE promise that wasn't delivered. I keep seeing people say they were lied to, and dupped,,, but no examples of what was promised, and not delivered.

  • It's hard to argue with anything he said, I keep hearing from people "wait" their first big update will be in 3 months... uhm ok well then we paid 60.00 for early access and not a fully loaded content game.

I see some people saying why change it, we knew what the game was.. or maybe just in disbelief they could mess it up this bad with such a great idea and and beautiful world in place.

I would challenge someone more forum savvy than I to let's see what the people other that the 6000 pioneers to put a forum poll up with simply Progression or no progression and see what the masses want.

If that poll confirms people don't want progression most people will move on I'm sure, however if it shows by a large margin what the game is really lacking will RARE bend on their ideals to take care of their players other than keeping to a casual theme.

Who said Rare promised anything? Go back and reread my original post.

  • @zalavaaris Basing that on his other reviews, I think that is fair.

@zalavaaris Basing that on his other reviews, I think that is fair.

    I disagree

  • Cant really take a youtuber as angry joe seriously, one who needs to do some many stupid thing to get his point across, is not really something I find trustworthy. He will always have some viewers, cause we don't all agree.
Rather listen to a Jackfrags Review. Nice, calm, an to the point.

  • @markglow what examples do you want? Haven't you watched all the interviews and promotional videos? Hell even MS hyped this game to the sky.
They said that this game will drastically change multiplayer experience! That it will be a world with unendless opportunities and stuff to do (doing 3 types of quest with the same aimbot skeletons and doing pvp).
Where is the diversity of quests that was promised? I one video they said that you are will be able to find books and go on different adventure by reading the stuff in the book?
Where is the clever AI with the history behind? Wielding different and "bigger" weapons as the player "progresses"?
Where is the progression that they promised? I mean THE REAL PROGRESSION? Between 0 / 0 / 0 and 50 / 50 / 50 there is no progression. You are the same pirate yielding the same gun. Fighting with the same weapon. Stuck with the same ship. Carrying the same items. DOING THE SAME QUESTS! Should I go on? I don't want leveling and boosts to items but I want rewards for doing 50 quests (like a pet) or sinking 100 ships (b****s pirate music and a skull flag).

  • I actually agree with most of Angry Joes reviews, they're mostly on point but this time, he must have had a cold or something

  • For people wondering why Angry Joe's review seemed "harsh", it really wasn't, as he said many times in past videos that he only reviews games content as it was since launch. This means that future DLC hints are null, bug fixes are null, because the game still had them when he made the review :)

  • @face-0-o
Right, you mention the users, but again, content isn't complete. But everyone is hammering on RARE for this, it isn't their fault, and I don't feel they misinformed in any way. Users are fanatical, and sometimes have blinders on, but that being said, I don't feel that RARE and this game should be hammered on unverified sources. The game isn't for everyone, so some will like it but some will trash it. I for one am a fan of the game.

  • @simply-nephalem

What game isn't hyped???? A company would be idiotic not to hype a game they are releasing,,, so that point is baseless.
They have always said that progression is horizontal, not vertical, so asking for clever AI and bigger better weapons is baseless.
Your point with the variety of quests is valid, however, there is more coming to the game other than what was launched, so hopefully they will provide more types of quests.
As for game changing, you bet it is. The game is dependent on encounters with other people. You have the option to do quests, become a pirate thief, farm shipwrecks, attack forts,,, there is a bunch to do. The PVP is game changing because you are not constantly grinding against the same npc's over and over, you actual face humans that can alter and adjust how they do things.

  • @greencamillion1 agreed. Hes irrelevent, a bit like a clown really.

  • I love (loved actually) the game for about the first 2 days. Im somewhere around 50-60 hours in, maybe more, and its getting really stagnant. When I first started playing I had 40+ friends who had the game as well and we had loads of fun. After a week zero, literally zero of them play it anymore leaving me playing solo which sucks. Ill continue to grind everyday to try and get to legendary and justfy my purchase by unlocking more content but I feel I wont make it. It feels like Ill need 25,000 chests, 22,000 skulls, and 17,000 chickens just to get there.

  • @firetadpole7469 EA all over again 🤣

So if you read articles/watch videos by someone who constantly has terrible ways in how they do things (it wasn't just Shadow of War), you will keep going back and watching his stuff? Or will you move on? I wasn't judging this specific review, I just won't watch it because I am not a fan of how he operates. If you are not a fan of something yet keep on with it, good on you I guess. That is not how I work. He hated many games I enjoyed, and didn't care. But he makes no sense in many of them. It got old.

  • @madrabbit999 said in Just watched the Angry Joe review.:

A friend of mine wanted nothing to do with it because of reviews, I then let her try it from my account and immediately bought a copy the same day.

This is why I personally never base any purchases purely on review. First I watch gameplay (or in the case of a beta or alpha program, I play it) because straight gameplay doesn't have an opinion. If I like it enough based on just that then I'll buy it. Sometimes I will read a review before buying, but those generally come down to someone else's opinion, so they don't matter much to me.

  • @humlaaa said in Just watched the Angry Joe review.:

Not everyone is watching live streams. I have played since the alpha and I pretty much knew it was going to be a shallow game based on that. However I did have my hopes high but I am already bored of it.

You do the same thing over and over again. Sword mechanics is bad, there is no skill to it. World is empty, AI is bad etc.

The best things about the game is the water and sailing. The ability to play with friends via cross-play too but that is it really.

Very, very disapointed. I will probably start playing often in a few months again when they have added a bunch of things.

adding to your post relative to your sword comment, I agree sword battles do not feel fluid. furthermore I want to point out that ads mechanics on the weapons are trash.. try to ads on the fly and witness as you can’t fire mid animation, w*f☹️ shoot a scoped sniper shot and release the scope as soon as the bullets has left the rifle, scope lag.... this is bush league stuff😕

Jesus, read his post again a few times and maybe it will come to you. He is actually giving his opinion on the reviewer not the review he decided to skip.

I think his assessment is on point, if his reviews of other games suffers from issues caused by him or his software and not actual issues with the game itself then atleast I can sure as hell manage without those reviews.

  • Does no one remember everyone talking about all the content RARE was keeping from the alpha and beta? All the exciting stuff they promised was in the final game but not shown in the beta? How can anyone say that we knew what we were getting into when we heard that so much more would be added to this game? Expecting more from a final game compared to its alpha isn't unreasonable.

  • @firetadpole7469 They did talk a lot about "rich and beautiful world full of adventures". I'd say in that aspect it was a rip-off. The world is completely empty, and the only adventure is seeing another ship. I just had a first Kraken fight today and I can't express how much it sucked. It just raised tentacles, hit us once and that's it. It was just standing there doing nothing until we left.

  • @firetadpole7469 I watched the review and he describes how I feel about this game as well. It hurts that such beautiful game and graphics is so shallow. Companies MUST stop tricking gamers. First, let me tell you this, NO COMPANY SHOULD EVER tell in a livestream that only targets 1% of the potential customers about how shallow the game is going to be and how much lack of content it will have. The other 99% didn't have access to all the BETAS and other testing. I think at the end, Rare will end up having seas full of beta testers. I have lost absolute respect for UK-based gaming companies. It's easy to build a game "so ambitious" that you only have 4 weapons and combined 4 animations for them and then have everyone to set their expectations very low. This is an early-access game, PERIOD. This is a hollow shell. I went even further than angry joe and spent about 20 hours in the game to realize that I was 99% of the time talking to friends about other things rather than the game. Don't you think that a game with 1 enemy and 4 animals to interact with is hollow? Show some respect for yourself and how much it cost to make $60 these days. It sucks that the CRAKEN fight ends with no reward and they applied the 80s technique to darken the screen so you see nothing. This is seriously c**p. Gamers should be more careful with this company in the future and make sure these folks get to work and generate some content before purchasing this $20 game. Much respect to the artists who did an amazing job with the graphics. For the programmers, stop watching Ben's tutorials on Udemy please. This game is so full of glitches that it's annoying. I kill a skeleton and 1 sec later is when I see the death animation. Seriously no cool. The AI is absolutely broken.
