Should Auto-Targeting be Required?

  • The auto-targeting in referring to is when you get close to an enemy. There have been many times when I’m surrounded by several skeletons that are moving quickly, and the auto-targeting locks my camera in front of me while I’m trying to hit another target.

What are your thoughts? Is the auto-targeting helpful for you, would you like an option to disable it, or should it be required to balance close-ranged combat between pc and Xbox One players?

  • I think there should be an option to disable it.

  • I swear to God i must be the worst player ever because i have no idea what everyone is talking about when the bring up this target lock lol.
Am i so bad i dont notice it? What is it even? I dont even know what it is lol.

There is another thread with a straw poll asking for it to be removed. You should search it and vote. Currently it is overwhelmingly for having an option to disable the auto-targeting. Hopefully the devs will add that option as they have been pretty good about most community suggestions that are heavily backed. And not a 50/50 split

  • @misterdoomed It can be pretty subtle - especially if you’re dealing with one or two enemies at a time. The target lock is when you get close to an enemy, and your canera stays focused on them when moving left or right. The problem is when you’re dealing with a dozen skeletons at a skeleton fort, and your camera focused on a skeleton with a pistol instead of the skeleton with a blunderbuss that you want to kill first.

  • @misterdoomed
I didn’t really notice it until I did a skeleton fort, but because there are so many enemies it gets cumbersome. I had a fleet of 8-9 skeletons running at me and was trying to shoot them with my blunderbus and then turn and run. The first one ran through me because unit collision isn’t a thing and the view spun around to stay locked on him. I shot him and killed him and then had my back facing about 8 skeletons. I expecting to still be facing the horde I spun around to run away and wound up ruining straight to them and being killed. It’s just rather disorienting with hordes of zombies.

  • @frostycrypton
Thank you ! And you must be right about it being subtle cuz i dont notice it lol.
I guess im very bad at melee so thats why i dont notice it and why good players do....i wonder if this is rare trying to artificially balance combat.

  • @grumpie-bear29
Lol i must be such a s**z and so bad at melee that i think im the one doing it i guess lol...this is why i stick to ship combat i guess ha ha ha.

  • @frostycrypton

It needs to be 100% disabled.

If YOU however ARE disabled, there should be an option for YOU.
But instead, Rare makes sure that EVERYONE else have to turn it off or in this case, its just ON forever and it sucks more than an industial vacuum cleaner.
Talk about catering the game to the absolute weakest of us.

"This person cant control the game with nothing but his mouth, so therefore we cater the game to that."

Its so Microsoft and politically correct its getting close to actual madness.
