You freshers are delusional: 1) The game IS anemic, 2) You're not getting safe zones, at least not at launch.

We will see. I for one am not holding my breath. I'll play free with my one month game pass trial then decide.

This is exactly what I recommend to everyone at this point. All we can really do is wait and see what the final product is. There is no point in speculating. I have not pre-ordered and I probably will not buy the game at launch. Instead, I plan to look at the final product and judge it completely separate to my experiences thus far. If you can not do the free trial of Game Pass, then check out the game on Twitch and YouTube.

Well said and exactly describes my situation. For nearly 3 years I have obsessed on this game. Now we are almost there I find myself much less enthused and sceptical. It wasnt the beta it was all that came before. Now I'll wait and see. The developement for this game, the attitude of the team and publisher, all the rhetoric, even the forums - strongly remind me of another game - that game starts with a D ends in a Y.

  • Like a lot of you stated before a Some of the things that were in the Alpha aren’t in the beta and yes I do agree that it is for hype reason which from a pr perspective is great. Now with people claiming that this is all that’s going to be on the game and that they can’t possibly add many things before the release deadline is completely r******d and you forget that there is a thing called patches.

PS:No S&@t it’s no complete its a beta and PC is better than console.

You bunch of filthy carebears. :P

now that I can live with

  • @shaggiedo I am probably a similar case. I have been looking forward to this, but as always the realist within me engages during beta. If the community becomes toxic, then I will not buy. So far it is looking better than other betas I have been in. There are a lot of great people here on the forum. So we shall see.

  • Cap danger your points made no sense, you can't "patch" a massive amount of content in two months. Also your pc is better than console was unneeded and childish.

I am sceptical of SoT as I've followed it since alpha and rare have been anything but transparent. I'll wait and see, but game pass and rare aren't getting a penny until it see the proof in the pudding.

  • @shaggiedo Fighting fire with fire? Or maybe just a short negative answer to a huge post full of hate. Who knows.

I think the patches comment was more so about long term support rather than launch. You are right though, skepticism is a good thing for this.

  • Can we stop calling it "hate" when we don't fall head over heals with this game and instantly pre-order and anyone who doesn't love it is a "hater" or should go play "pubg" because this isn't all about PVP. Getting real tired.

  • @firetadpole7469 Hello Games had Sony's support. I am just saying be skeptical and don't put all your eggs into one basket just yet, so that way if this is a train wreck you're at least not completely let down. However if everything does come up roses for Rare and Sea of Thieves then you're gaining another awesome game to add to your library.

I personally know they're holding back a ton of content, but their marketing choices and public relations worry me. Rare's inability to communicate clearly with its growing community to the point the community has to ASSUME certain things will be in at launch is dangerous and ripe for disappointment.

But are we paying 50 pounds, 60 dollars etc for patches? No we are paying this premium for day one release so I expect the product to be worth my purchase not when they can manage to catch up with their patches.

You don't "personally know they're holding back aload of content" at all.

I see your point on this. I have bought a few games that were broken on release. However, you do not have to buy it on launch. Wait for the patches to come out if that is the case and they are needed. If they do not fix it, then spend it elsewhere. Rare has already stated that they plan to add more content over time. Spend your money as you see fit. No one should tell you otherwise, I certainly will not.

I agree with Hotel here. I think this silly mentality of "GET OUT OF HERE HATER LOL" has to go. Its really anti consumer and not even helping yourself out. So far this has been a pretty decent conversation albeit lacking points on the defending side.

Exactly, especially when they are 'holding back content' supposedly. Arent we supposed to be bug testing AND stress testing by now? We only have a small bit to go before release. Seems odd.

Yes they seem to be losing the marketing and PR battles, theyre starting to look a bit amateurish.

It is not conventional I will agree. Part of that is this is supposed to be a more traditional beta test rather than a demo. Having said that, normally they do not allow those who pre-order into traditional betas. I would describe this as a hybrid of the modern beta and traditional. It is both a stress test and a proof of concept.

So many people butthurt over the term 'fresher'. Spoiler, it's not derogatory, it's used to refer to new people, whatever the context.

You bunch of filthy carebears. :P

Explains that the original term was not derogatory, and then ends the explanation with a derogatory term... You my friend, are brilliant...

  • @ch4annel , tone's a bit harsh, but I agree w/ the overall evaluation.

  • @hotel-actual
I’m not talking about a patch before the release I’m talking about after the release and the pc is better than console was meant as a joke

  • @h0rse Thank you, it was intentional. Originally I almost put (this is derogatory) next to the carebears statement, to make the sarcasm obvious. I think the smily is enough though.

  • I know you mean after release patches but I don't want a content lite release with later patches. I'm making a purchase not an investment you get me?

I do understand that there is a rather lite audience that follows this game, but there is a lot of us hardcore gamers out here as well. No matter what group you belong to you need to remember to treat people with respect.

  • @hotel-actual We're buying a product not a promise.

  • @hotel-actual what game is pitch perfect at release NONE that is next to impossible to accomplish. Most great games don’t come out great most thing don’t.look at the xbox360 for example remember the red rings of death?

  • @hotel-actual I actually tend to do a lot of research. I guess its just something I do when a game I am interested in nears release. Thus I know of a lot of content that they've said will be in release. I of course cannot promise these things will be there, but Rares has said they would be. For whatever that is worth lol.

I would say most games are feature complete or fully realized upon release. The exceptions are typically called out, much like here.

  • You're continually missing the point so I'm not reiterating for a third/fourth time sorry.

Nice to see the maturity from all parties involved displayed in this thread. Embarrassment to the community this name calling and bickering.

You mean like calling people immature? You're not above the fray. You've placed yourself squarely in it. Congrats.
