Am i missing something? you almost cant even move the crosshair when scoped or using a cannon? searched all through settings and cant find an option to increase this. My gaming mouse can increase DPI, which i max out when scoping or cannoning, but when i come off my guys spinning around like a (Mod Edit) fidget spinner...
Scoped sensitivity?
@x99myke I think the sensitivity is fine where it's at. In its current state, it requires skill to use.
Thats the most (mod edited) thing ive ever heard? requires skill to use? you mean you have to aim first then right click to scope and not aim after? makes no sense at all.. have you ever actually played any other game....
plus as i mentioned i can adjust DPI with a click of my mouse, its annoying, but its doable, meaning if they dont implement the option of sensitivity, people like me, will have a distinct advantage when aiming so they need to balance it
The sensitivity doesn't scale properly with the zoom level, so it still moves your view to the left/right the same amount (ie. 10px to the left at normal, and 10px to the left when zoomed in) but because the scale is so different (10px to the left at normal view might be 2ft, while 10px to the left at the sniper zoom is closer to 2in) it feels awkward. It happens with all guns, but the sniper rifle problem is magnified because it has a much larger zoom level.
There has been tons of feedback provided to Rare to fix this issue.

this couldn't be further from the truth. They have the sensitivity set so low that it requires no skill at all to hit most targets that aren't sprinting. There's also no wind effect, hardly any bullet drop for the first 400 meters if not more, and the hit box is ridiculously huge.
@face-0-o considering that you'll more than likely be firing from your ship (which bobs up and down with the waves) I think it's more than balanced.
@shadowstrider-7 I disagree, the sensitivity is EXTREMELY slow, I literally cant turn at all, there needs to be an option to change it.
@nvthann of course it's slow. That's where having a bit of skill comes in to play. Imagine if you could swivel cannons on a dime and use the Eye of Reach without an issue. The game would be plagued with quick-scoping COD kids. It's absolutely fine where it's at currently.
#BeMorePirate #GitGud@shadowstrider-7 no it is not, you can't assume everyone who's playing the game is playing on console. A lot of people play the game using a PC. Having a scope that slow is almost impossible on smaller mousepads. There's a difference between skill, and not having enough mouse space to actually be able to move while zoomed in. I personally do not have a large mousepad, and this is causing me to have to lift my mouse literally every centimeter of movement. On Console I can guarantee this is much easier as you only use joysticks.
@nvthann it takes forever to aim on console as well. I can understand your frustration with using a mouse/mousepad, but I still think it's fine where it's at. It's also a pirate game and not a FPS. Use your sword more, it's much more fun.
@shadowstrider-7 I personally say give pc players a way to increase it at least a little to the point where we can actually aim, other than that I'm fine.
@nvthann the only time I use the Eye of Reach is when I'm in the crows nest covering my mates on shore hunting for treasure. Other than that, I stick to the sword and the flintlock. The Eye of Reach is much easier to use from a great distance due to its slow aiming. Anything within 2 ship lengths is much harder to track. I'm sure a little fine-tuning will be done before launch as you're not the first PC player I've seen complain about this very same issue.
@x99myke Your post has been edited due to inappropriate language.
Please refrain from using language like that in the future.
Thank you!@khaleesibot you edited my post that said '(Mod Edit)' but not my initial post that says '(Mod Edit)'....
And if you're not aiming swear words at someone i feel i should be allowed to curse whenever i like. But feel free to edit my post to keep the snowflakes happy.
and @ShadowStrider-7 what you say literally makes no sense. your argument is 'it takes skill'. when no, in fact, its impossible. you cannot aim a sniper no matter what. You cannot turn a cannon without doing things you shouldnt like using your gaming mouse to smash up the curser speed.
What you say 'its a pirate game, use your sword and a pistol'. Sure, then dont put a sniper in the game if thats how its meant to played. Its there, it needs to work properly, fact.
also @khaleesibot you popped your head to edit my post, but not actually give us information on this issue? What is the outlook for scoped sensitivity, what was the purpose between making it so unmovable? do you beleive this was intentional or its just not yet been implemented. Cheers kiddo x
He's a forum moderator, and perhaps a Rare employee, but not necessarily a game dev. If that's true, typically they have no more insight on the game development than we do.
G'day @x99myke, I'm just going to echo @khaleesibot comment "Please refrain from using language like that in the future." Using the two words in your response is not refraining yourself.
If you have feedback regarding the Eye of Reach, please post it in the dedicated feedback thread HERE.
@x99myke I totally agree on this, atleast on PC. I'd like to see a sensitivity system similar to PUBG where you can adjust the general sensitivity and sensitivity between all the different zoom levels.
(edit) I mean it's not supposed to be the most competitive game anyways but it would be a lot more comfortable.

Many of us believe the slow scope movement zoomed in is to keep things even across the console/pc divide.
This is false. You can adjust the in game slider to make zoom sensitivity work properly, but you need to adjust it back after returning to normal. If it were for balance reasons, there would be a hard upper limit on how fast you could move around while zoomed in.
So I run this game on 1.5 sensitivity, I physically don't have enough space on my mousepad to aim further than 10cm across my screen. It feels awful to use the scoped weapon and the "it's for balance" argument seems like total nonsense. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't someone with a higher general sensitivity actually be able to adjust their aim with the Eye of Reach, as opposed to us low-sensitivity FPS players who physically are unable to use the scope properly in battle?
Either way, the Eye of Reach is totally unusable for me, if I'm not meant to adjust my aim while scoped in for "balance reasons" then I believe it's a terrible design choice.
I'm so infuriated, I just want to use the Eye of Reach without it feeling awful. It's doesn't take "more skill", it takes stronger wrist muscles...
They should never have left the Sniper and Blunderbuss in the game. They'll never feel right with the current balancing/restrictions AND they're designed to negate swordplay completely.
Silly inclusions, IMO. But well, let's chill out. These first 1-2 months were ALWAYS going to be able giving Rare good, level-headed feedback so they can adjust what's not working and crack on from there.
