Hey guys, the game opens, loads, the i get to press any key, i press a key then it logs in. after this it says discovering services and crashes.
Discoveing services
@doubtfulmocha60 The servers are probably under a bit of pressure at the moment, please keep at it and try again a little later...
This has nothing to do with the servers or anything i have been getting this problem each and every time there is a play session. They keep saying its "because i tried to log in after a session" Which is obviously b******t because they REPLY when the session is over.. They aren't helping me at all with this.
@hobolonia Latest update we have:
We're continuing server maintenance from 12pm GMT. Servers are expected to be offline for approximately an hour.
Sorry, we cant help you any further at the moment but servers have been taken offline temporarily.
@musicmee Yeah they blame it on an update or trying to log in after play session while i keep getting this same crash over and over and over again, whenever i try to log in i litterally tried like half a year ago, same crash..
@hobolonia Have you tried submitting a support request? If its a crash they would like to know about it.
@musicmee I have 2 times and both times they answer something unhelpful. I reply with more detail and they just don't reply after that and say its solved.. Now i tried a third time with hopefully all information..
I have bad news for you. The same error occurred in alpha for me. For first time in alpha game run well. But after that, every time game crashed at "discovering servicies". Of course I wrote ticket, but they answered after alpha ended: "thank you"
So I really looking forward to beta, but nothing changed, game crashed at same point. But, can you write please, what antivir and firewall are you using? (Avira + Comodo Firewall)
And FYI, there is error in windows system log (I send it with ticket).
Finally I found someone with the same problem as me. I start up Sea of Thieves Closed Beta, and get to the part where it says "Sea of Thieves Alpha" (shouldn't it say Closed Beta?). Below is the "press any button to continue". When I press a key it changes to "Signing in", then goes on to "Discovering services" and immediately freezes and after a few seconds crashes to desktop. No error message.
Unlike @elfounek I never had this problem in the Alpha.
Things I've tried:
- Uninstall the game, download it again and reinstall
- Reset Microsoft Store
- Uninstall Insider Hub and reinstall it
- Change Win10 login from local account to Microsoft/XboxLive login
- Disabling antivirus and firewall (both Comodo)
No change so far. Same result throughout yesterday and today.
@enfrikecido I do too. But seeing as some have had this problem through the whole Alpha test without any solution from support or on the forums, I don't have high hopes. The issue may just be too rare to bother with...
@sir-knut Now the only thinig we can do is to have hope about they will hear us and solve the issue, because there is a lot of people having this crash. And too many of them have really big PC's then hope they will take the problem seriously, if they want their game to be played xD
Let's try to be patient :S
@enfrikecido Yes I guess so. I have seen another thread about this issue too, so hopefully someone takes notice.
@capitanmikon said in Game Crashing when loading (1st time ever play this game):
When i launch game it starts to load. When its saying discovering services. It crash. No error. Tried reinstall game, reboot computer. Is this problem bcs of outdated gpu drivers? or its game issue?
Also i cant create ticket to support. An update if anyone is still following this thread: From a suggestion by another guy who also uses Comodo, disabling it isn't enough. You need to completely uninstall Comodo Internet Security. Doing so will prevent the crash. Remember to enable Windows Defender and Firewall if you decide to remove Comodo.
@alanarias said in Discovering Services - crash when loading:
@capitanmikon , I just tried this and can confirm.
Comodo will block the game, and turning Comodo Antivirus off is not enough to get around the issue, uninstalling it was the only way to go.
Guess I will have to use a different Anti-Virus software for now.
Thank for the response.Guys, I've managed to come up with a simple fix. The comodo error is related to the update to Comodo to address the SPECTRE vulnerability found in Windows OS in January 18. It updates a DLL file in C:\Windows\System32 named 'Guard64.dll' What you need to do is back that file up, and then change the name of Guard64.dll to Guard64_old.dll. Now in about an hour, Comodo will b***h at you for needing an update, and update that DLL file again, but until you restart, you can play Sea of Theives.
@ahbraxas Can confirm renaming the Guard.64.dll file allowed me to get past the Discovering Services crash. You can even keep Comodo/firewall running so long as that file is disabled.
