Biweekly Bilge Rat Weekender

  • Like it says on the tin. It'd be real nice if it happened more frequently. There's a doubloon limit in place, and only so many goods in the marketplaces, too, so no need to worry about hoards.

Gives more opportunity, as well, for those who may not have a specific weekend free.

  • Slowly but surely...we be back to having so much of something and nothing to spend it on. Just because.

  • Nah, make the existing event longer.

The current doubloon reward for the event seems OK given the cosmetic reward drop rate.
I will be charitable and say having the event twice a month would be less 'special'(some might say too tedious).

Buddy, that's what the limit is for. Once you bought everything and you are full on doubloons, you can just. Not grind. Just don't do it! Use the weekend to get in some hourglasses when only the dedicated are queueing, watch some fireworks and help out a newer player, or get some commendations or world events while everyone is distracted. Having it more frequently just means the people who haven't bought out Larinna's shop have some way of catching up beyond grinding reapers.

Some of the better fun and camraderie I have had in this game of late has been completing the silly bilge rat tasks. I would accept the Bilge Rat Week, though. I like to do other things on a weekend, sometimes!

The smuggler's stuff is tedious, true, but you just cut down on the smuggler's quests per weekend, crank the rewards up on the tasks, and have a grand old time. I'm not sure anyone really cares about Smugglers anyways.

  • Make it a week, Wednesday to Wednesday, give people plenty of time to get stuff done without having to rush things. Perhaps even separate out the "Returning event" part of it to a different week.

Also, the smuggler's doubloon run is pretty dull. How about for the entire Bilge Rat event time add the Doubloon crate to every world event. Should spice up the events a bit and it would nice to have a target for sneaky steals again.

A few other ways during normal times to earn a smaller amount of doubloons would be nice. Endless FotDs aren't exactly thrilling. The cap does the job of limiting the currency, so more ways to earn would be nice. But that's a different conversation.

Absolutely amazing ideas here. Having the world event give a doubloon chest makes them worth fighting over, aside from the potential of a chest of fortune. This is just icing on the cake. Giving players an alternative (but smaller amount) way to earn doubloons is also being considerate to those who can't log on during weekends.

I truly hope they incorporate your ideas, as it only helps the players here.

  • @pc-monkfish Making the event longer doesn't give us more doubloons. 99% of people get their doubloon voyages done within the first day and then you just don't see anyone doing them anymore.

Never said it did but it makes the Weekender more accessible. I don't think we need more Doubloons - as long as everyone can do every Weekender to keep up to date.
Make Events and Challenges the full week and retain fireworks/doubloon voyages to the weekend.

Challenges can be more organic and interesting with longer period in order to get them done.
Week long Event could be be more substantial and engaged with more - eg Heist comes back with Doubloon reward, Siren Song with Doubloon Reward. Reaper Fortress MegaStashes etc etc

Currently Events are one and done for me given the tightly compressed timescale and to do list.

Just to clarify when I say 'Event' here I mean the additional task they give you to do each Weekender - most recent one being the Legendary bottle quests.

  • @pc-monkfish Yeah that makes sense. I just want more old cosmetics to be re-added, there is over 1000 items that have never come back to the game

  • @flashkannon5118 the whole doubloon limit is starting to become a non issue anyways.

I am only able to purchase the new stuff they add because i have all the other stuff they add to the black market already and even though i only do the 5 voyages of my own and the recurring event + whatever easy challenge the list has i am sitting on an easy surplus without trouble and without stress.

As expected and stated by multiple people at the time the reset and the new system has not been thought trough with any sort of real effort and subsequently shows itself as what it is:

A Lazy way to try to solve a problem without actually giving it real time to come up with something that could have even been explained in a lore way

  • @callmebackdraft

Being a long-time player, I also am in the position of already having the contents of the black market - but a newer player will find themselves deep in the doubloon hole with only reapers to grind to get them out of it. Not exactly the level playing field they advertised, I'd say.

The doubloon currency rarity is an inducement and motivation to complete the Weekender.
My play sessions outside of the Weekender are framed round trying to sell the Reaper Chest - it's only 20 but they add up and it's fun trying to get it home safely - a stealthy dig and return if need be.
I don't think lore is really needed.

Those who 'ploit or farm Chests as Reaper V and complain they are maxed out with nothing to buy/no reason to play may realise the fun in just playing naturally eventually.
