Accidentally bought Pirate Potion + another Pirate slot while tabbed out

  • I was tabbed out of Sea of Thieves while waiting for friends to get online. I loaded up Palworld while I waited.

What I didn't realize was that Sea of Thieves was still capturing my controller button presses. When I exited Palworld, my primary pirate was gone/re-rolled, and I had a new pirate slot that I didn't even want.

I'm pretty devastated, as I've had the same pirate since day one, and I love him. I didn't want to change a single thing. I already submitted a support ticket, but I'm still stressing about it - what a silly thing, to be able to make big account changes like that while the game isn't even the active window! Surely there's a way they can change that?

Follow-up question: Has anyone else had anything like this happen, and was support able to help? Here's hoping!

  • So you had both SoT and Palworld. Loaded together (poor pc) and the game matched your key strokes. So you ended up purchasing two things…..

The rarity of that happening is high. Idk

  • @burnbacon Yep, although I assumed SoT would just wait on the title screen for me. Imagine my surprise when I tab back in and see it at the confirmation screen to buy more Ancient Coins to purchase yet another Pirate Profile.

  • Contact customer service and tell them that you accidentally deleted your role, and then ask them to restore your data to a point before a certain time. This should be feasible,

  • @cobalt-robot send them a ticket, I’ve heard if you do it quick enough they can reverse the deleted pirate https://support.seaofthieves.com/requests/new

Never. In fact, I have to have Sea of Thieves focused for it to register my controller. So this is very weird behaviour.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you have Steam Input enabled, which you don't need for this game as it has native controller support. Even if you're on the MS Store version of the game, I would turn off the global Steam Input setting in Steam (enable it on a per-game, as-needed, basis), because it can cause some weirdness in Windows in general.

Fingers crossed that Support can help you out here though.
