I’m a long time player of Sea of Thieves, and will likely continue to be for a long time to come. But sometimes, gameplay feels very unbalanced for solo-sloopers such as myself. Especially during PvP encounters with larger crews. One example of this would be a recent incident - I was fighting an enemy Brigantine, who were very skilled at manoeuvring out of my cannon angle whenever I’m ready for a broadside. After a prolonged conflict, the battle slowly shifted into a Skeleton Fleet. As expected, one Skeleton Sloop spawned to battle me, while they received a Skeleton Galleon opponent. Seems quite reasonable - the solo gets the smaller enemy, the trio gets the larger. Except after only three shots, the Galleon and Sloop both teamed up with the Brigantine to fight me alone. I did end up sinking, however this is not what I have a problem with. What I struggle with is when the Brigantine was closer to the Skeleton Galleon, and actively attacking it, but the Galleon continued to dump cannonballs - both regular and Cursed - into my vessel. It is thus my opinion that, when two (or more) player vessels are nearby, Skeleton ships/krakens/megalodons (basically naval NPC threats) target the enemy which most recently attacked them, or the largest one (galleon-brigantine-sloop priority). Myself and, I’d think several other solo players such as myself, would be greatly appreciative of this sort of change, to better even the playing field in PvP encounters against larger crews.
Minor NPC Balancing Suggestion
After a prolonged conflict, the battle slowly shifted into a Skeleton Fleet.
Shifted, or you both sailed close enough into a Fleet (World Event)
What I struggle with is when the Brigantine was closer to the Skeleton Galleon, and actively attacking it, but the Galleon continued to dump cannonballs - both regular and Cursed - into my vessel.
Hmmm, could depend on who started the Event, and if they were still outside the "limits" the skeleton would aggro too.
As a Solo...you shouldnt of stayed, you should of kept sailing Out and away from the Fleet.when two (or more) player vessels are nearby, Skeleton ships/krakens/megalodons (basically naval NPC threats) target the enemy which most recently attacked them
And if there are Even? Or nobody attacks?
Could be more to it than simply that. Who to say, but Im still believing, you had the way to escape and still stuck around enough for both ships to attack you, even as the Brig was as you said Attacking the Galleon Skeleton.I’d think several other solo players such as myself, would be greatly appreciative of this sort of change, to better even the playing field in PvP encounters against larger crews.
They done so much nerfing to World Events to cater to us Solo players, it becoming clear that they are no longer a big threat...They use to be such a big deal but not even close to how they use to be.
@burnbacon With all due respect, I did omit certain details that I didn’t think relevant to this specific scenario. I had been blown to pieces by a Black Powder barrel following a lucky deck shot, and thus it was not realistically possible to escape. As well, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t always have to disprove everything other people say, as I have seen you do on other posts as well. I consider every word I type and would appreciate it if actual feedback was given about my ideas, rather than ‘you could’ve done better’. I’m a longtime fan and believe the game is in a pretty good state, given the sheer hate the community gives it. I was simply giving feedback based on a few scenarios that I and likely others have found mildly or considerably irritating or frustrating. I am open to further discussion, if it is true discussion and not a pick-apart of every word I type out.

Please define what is a true discussion if it's not addressing everything you wrote and suggested? Would you prefer if he just said your suggestion is lame and to "git gud"? Lol.
Well, I'm not Bacon, but I'm gonna double down on what he said cuz he was absolutely right. I'm a solo slooper as well, and all I've read is that you gambled hard, and lost hard.
Let's even ignore for a second that you had a BP barrel on your ship - Skeleton ships (same as Megs and Krakens) since forever had absolutely random player targets, and it could've easily been the brig you fought. But this time, you were on the receiving end.
With all due respect, nothing much to discuss really. 😁
GGs for going against a Brigantine as a Solo - boarding meta and grappling gun cheez has the odds stacked against you.
'Get Rared' is a fickle phenomenon.
Recently I was griefed by a Meg as I attempted to hoover loot and a duo sloop was able to sail in quite happily and attack me. Abandon ship was the best option clutching a keg.
And today a Brig was sailing towards my Reaper Fortress and got kraken'd. They sank with perhaps some help from my cannon balls and their attempt to keg me.Maybe over a long enough timescale these things even out.
