Thanksgiving Event (Or Equivalent) For November

  • Since the Sea of Thieves is all about taking, what about an event all about giving?

There should be an event (around thanksgiving time) that should be fully around giving players loot. Even thought thanksgiving is a majority North American holiday, it would not hurt having an event celebrating the idea of giving and partying separate from Christmas. It could be eating with other pirates, drinking grog with other pirates, anything that is either eating fruit (or bait), drinking grog, and giving loot.

Also, cosmetics around turkeys and autumn would look cool.

You mean..."Festival of Giving" which is around Christmas...

  • @burnbacon

Idk how my comment didn’t upload but I did say it should be different from the festival of giving by having goals specifically for giving out stuff, sharing, and forming alliances with others.

  • Planksgiving exists.

Join the spirit in giving other pirates a plank or two.
    No commendations, no rewards.
Just giving because you can and it's nice.

  • @swagalisous7451 this has been done in the past, festival of giving used to be more involved, it didnt go over well in general since trying to get everything unlocked alot of the time involved taking crews hostage and forcing then to take or sell part of your loot

  • i mean as an american who thinks about thinks from a realistic perspective..... american thanksgiving is honestly very pirate themed because its all about celebrating stealing a whole country from its native population and in a very brutal and disgusting way. history is written by the victors as they so so we sugar coat the heck out of it to make it seem like thanksgiving was something positive.

not that christmas itself is much better. we sugar coat it as the celebration of the birth of jesus but we dont even know when (or if) that happened. it was put in december to drown out the pagans celebration to force dominance of christianity.

we did have a time limited event for the gifts with a giving table added for a brief time during that update. but those commendations are still in the game and year round now. and back when they were added i think most people werent as aware (and still may not be?) of how fast loot despawns on islands. how long servers can even stay active before the system forces them to shut down due to memory leaks. like in the old days watching streamers do their gilded voyages and leaving them at an outpost for someone to login to a present.... well that server might be locked and no new ships could join so the second they logged off the server got closed and their generous gesture got wasted due to how these servers function.

wasnt trying to be overly negative with this response so sorry it might come off that way. just how my aspergers brain works. but this game... at least in theory and what the devs always claim... is a sandbox to play our way.. if you want to fill a rowboat with loot and go donate it to another player? go for it! its all on you as to how you play the game. that being said their refusal to add proper pve progression servers shows they care more about the pvp hostility than people just playing to have fun.

  • turkey pet thats all XD

  • If they even did do a thanksgiving event, it would just be a lazy 2x xp thing. There would be no rewards for it, no themed missions. They didn't do grogmanay last year and they aren't doing it this year. Last year for ghoul and glory they gave everyone a sailor bucket with a jack o lantern face spray painted onto it. This year they gave us nothing. The year before last they gave us a custom sword for halloween. It would just be lazy

  • @keylessword4029

thanksgiving is about giving thanks for a harvest the natives and pilgrims, idk why you're making a political stance in SoT forums for an event.
