Dear Sea of Thieves Team,
When I decided to solo sloop, I knew what I was getting myself into. The exhilaration comes from the fact that the odds are slim, the hazards are tremendous, and the seas are harsh. But eventually, it ceases to be a challenge and turns into an unjustifiable form of punishment.
Regardless of its original intent, solo slooping has become a popular playstyle. Whether by choice or need, a sizable portion of the player base relishes the experience of facing the oceans by themselves. It's not that many of us don't want a crew; we just can't locate one. It is possible that friends have moved on from the game. Open crew matchmaking frequently results in pairings dealing with folks who aren't up to the challenge or who don't want to participate in PvP. And that's all well and good, but it gives players like me no solid PvP choice and very little assistance.
Yes, solo PvP is permitted in Hourglass fights under equal circumstances, however that is just a small portion of the experience. Solo players face a severe and ongoing disadvantage in the open world. PvP stops being about skill or strategy and turns into a question of access when it becomes a matter of "do you have a friend or not." Furthermore, poor design occurs when enjoyment is impeded by accessibility.
Again, I just want to express my understanding that the game wasn't fully intended for player to play as a solo.
I want single gamers to be viable, not overpowered or unbeatable. At this moment, Despite their fervor for the game, many are abandoning it due to the difficulties and aggravation of solo slooping. I sincerely urge you to log in alone and attempt taking on a competent duo or trio if you still believe that solo slooping is well-balanced. It's a humiliating event that frequently ends before you get a chance to defend yourself.
I'm not saying that I have the answer. I have much more faith in the talented minds on the development team than in myself to figure out what works, whether it's minor mechanical tweaks, defensive enhancements, or even new tools only available for solo play. However, please understand that solo slooping is no longer a niche. It exists, it's expanding,
and it is in dire need of assistance.
I appreciate you reading. I adore this game and hope it gets better and more inclusive for anyone who is bold enough to go it alone.
Regards,
[A Concerned Solo Pirate]
