Rework both the Skeleton and Ghost curses

  • Hello everyone! I am kind of new to sea of thieves and been having a blast with the game (minus the hourglass pvp).

    I have been doing pvp (hourglass) pretty regularly trying my HARDEST to unlock the skeleton curse, I feel like both the pvp curses need a rework in some sort of fashion.

    I believe the curses are supposed to be the introduction to the two sides of the coin: Reapers and Athenas.

    My ideal rework would be grant the BASE curse at level 50 and make it where 100 in Athena or Reapers is the sought after Golden versions of the curses.

    I'm just saying think of if this game ever HAS to shut down (I don't hope it does anytime in the near future) how will people earn those curses then?

    There needs to be some sort of rework for the Skeleton and Ghost curses because I've seen a lot of people give up on getting these curses because the grind to 75/100 is way too high (plenty of people agree)

  • .... if the game has to shut down how would people earn the curses? They wouldnt... it would be shut down.

    Also, gold curse at 100? glares in gold bones

    Theyre not SUPPOSED to be easy

  • Yeah I get their not supposed to be easy but so many players give up on hourglass because you might have one good game then the rest is sweats looking to ruin evenings and not all of us have hours/days to spend grinding the hourglass mode.

    I still say it needs a rework

  • Hourglass can feel like torture. Use it at your own risk.

  • @savvystraw37257 torture doesn't begin to describe the current state of hourglass. I think what describes it better is HELL

    Win once then immediately lose to a sweaty kid who spent all day/night loot stacking and has 99 (of however many) stacks of canon balls.

    This mode needs a rework and so do these curses

  • @animegon3wrong just practice and get better. 100 is 100. 1000 is 1000.

  • @animegon3wrong I think the hourglass needs a rework, but nothing too drastic, with effort it is possible to acquire both curses... I belive the grind for lv 1000 is too high, would I accept lowering it to 500 but 100!?

    Curses need to be quick to pick up for those who play well, and take a long time for those who don't play so well, this is normal.

  • The reason why most players give up is the lack of rewards prior to reaching lvl 100.

    Soon as you hit 100, you suddenly have loads of rewards to work towards up until around 200/240 for both factions. Which is why most stop playing Hourglass after reaching 200/240.
    From this point, there is a monstrous 750/800 levels of absolute nothing before you unlocks the Golden curse at LVL 1000.

    This ultimately and obviously damages Hourglass' longevity.
    We need more rewards. Prior to LVL 100, but also between 200-1000.

    But most importantly, we need rewards that are not necessarily unlocked by reaching certain levels, but other types of challenges that can be refreshed regularly. Similar to a Season Pass. This would give everyone a reason to come back to Hourglass, boosting the player base, giving everyone more even (fun) battles.

    What if Hourglass had boosted XP every weekend? Would that bring some players back in regularly? Probably.
    Or what if you could unlock some sort of token by completing certain challenges within the Sea of Thieves. A token available to you or the crew you are part of that can be redeemed to boost (double) your XP in Hourglass for the next 10-20 battles.

    They need to add incentives for people to want to come back to Hourglass, but also a reason to stick around. XP boost would just keep some around. Regularly refreshed rewards would make everyone stick around.

  • Give it another year. Where another popular curse or something is introduced into hourglass. Requiring you to be max everything. It be a skeleton/ghost curse mix

    Then they might start adding new ways to achieve them.
