I have a friend group of 8 and we love playing Sea of Thieves together, but many times we have to leave some behind because of the player limit. We thought we would finally be able to play together if we were part of the same guild but, unfortunately, that was not the case. We think it would be good that two guild ships could be in the same server (max of 8 players at least) so we can do some of the tales or quests that require a lot of people or just to gain more gold easily.

While this would be fun for you and other groups of people with between 5 and 8 players - this will not be fun or fair for the other 3 crews on the server.
@lem0n-curry That is true, but it doesn't have to be in High Seas. This feature could be specifically for Safer Seas, which in it self is a "private server."
@mysticsoul1472 no tales or quests require 8 players, the only thing is glitterbeard....as mentioned this has massive impact on server balance. Safer seas doesn't include guilds so I can't see any chance of it allowing multiship.

Split between two Galleons, form a Guild. Boom, even as you Sail separately, you are sailing for the same Guild and everything one crew does goes forward.

Why stop at 8? Why not make it a whole server? Then we be making Alliance/Guild only servers. Hence...pve servers. See the issue?

If you think that, your missing the Real Point of Safer Seas.
@burnbacon I do not believe I’m missing the point of Safer Seas because that was made to play solo or in co-op without encountering other players that are not part of your crew/team. Sometimes we want to play with more than 3 people so the options are or more people are allowed in a crew or two ships are in the same server. Since both would not be fair in Higher Seas, why not allow more crew members or ships on Safer Seas with invites? It would be pve where no other random players would be bothered and a bigger group of friends would be able to enjoy playing together.

Rare said Safer Seas won't be having any features that are not in the High Seas.
@tesiccl Just to better understand, what you mean by "alliances that aren't created naturally"? If you mean like players who meet in Higher Seas that is ok but sometimes we already have friends who already play the game or we introduce other people to the game and we keep creating bigger groups of people that want to play together. For this bigger groups, it doesn't have to be in High Seas because I understand it would be unfair for those crews that are small. Safer seas is for those who want to play solo or co-op without encountering random players (as mentioned before); thus, why not expand the player capacity in safer seas or allow more ships there it be through invites or a password/code that would allow those friends you meet in game and/or irl to play together and do voyages without getting in the way of other players.
@burnbacon I will say maxing out two guild ships per server could keep things some what balanced being there's 3-4 other crews on a server and as quests go when using multi guild ships their quests are tied meaning both crews can only do one quest at a time it's a thought and yes it would fun to have but no I don't believe it will ever be a thing

So 3+ players starting a sloop and a galleon on one server in an alliance, who will all sail on the sloop will be balanced ?
It's all about a very delicate balance, my friend. I understand your desire to play with more, I do. This unfortunately isn't the game for it. You could apply that question to any player capped game. Why can't you have 8 people in a squad on The Division? Why can't you double your team size on CoD while the enemy team is at its normal cap? Why can't your Overwatch team have 8 of your friends while their team is still capped at 5? What if everyone got an increase. Overwatch 8v8s! Just some examples im throwing out. It just doesn't work. It turns the game upside down and changes everything about it. I'm sorry you can't play with everyone at the same time, but join a voice call and split it up into two ships. Y'all can do your own things and still laugh and talk about all of it. As far as doing that on Safer Seas, I get where you're coming from, but that makes the grind less grindy so people can bypass the actual game to level up without playing the actual game mode. Safer Seas is kind of an extended tutorial-mode really. We don't want it to be abused for level grinding with private alliance servers. Happy sailing!
I can just add to the existing answers:
Server alliances: A big No from the Developers side since forever (has been asked multiple times alrdy). Reason? ingame balance of the PvPvE environment. Natural alliances are for the most part among strangers without any affiliation. The point is: You can never trust them, you could be betrayed at any given time. Thats intended, we are pirates after all.
All the acomplishments in the game are meant to be earned via the constant threat of enemy players. If you have nothing to lose the gain also means nothing. Thats also the reason why SS is a solo ship practice mode, and no "private server" as you call it, and why many features are locked behind HS. You are meant to earn your achievements, not farm them in a safe zone, be it server alliance or SS. SS is really just for chiling out, playing with your kid or getting a first impression on the game.
Multiple "friend" ships on one server is not allowed for the same reasons, plus it would also not be fair for the other ships on the server.
Ofc. this can occour "naturally" just by random people joining alliances, but it is a) a rare occasion, and does b) always keep an elemnt of uncertainty to it. Thats the fun of it.
So, No. I would not want server alliances either, not even a multiple friend ships option.
I can alrdy see the duo gally guild farming the whole server, or the indestructible 5 man sloop on the horizon. No thanks ;)@lem0n-curry you would pick the ship types from the guild ships any combo of two ships now in fights yes it can be unbalanced but my crew set up multi ships via server hoping and still wreaked by a single crew so it's not out side the skill of crew to take on two ships at once but it could be a separate server that only matches the due crews against other duo crews assuming they bump it back up to 6 crews
@parrotlord6426 I understand your point truly; I wouldn't want two galleons or a 5 man sloop go against me either. What me and my friends were aiming for was just to be able to mess with each other and go on voyages, shrines, fortresses, etc. with each other even if we do not gain a lot of money or even level up/get achievements, that was never our main goal. The same way SS is for chilling or practice mode, that is what we wanted to do just with everyone in the friend group. That was why I was also mentioning in the replies (since I forgot to mention it on the main post) for it to be a PvE even if it means less gain, no leveling up, and no achievements; it is just a chance for everyone to play and mess around together without affecting anyone else.
@mysticsoul1472 yeah I understand that desire. The PvE part of SoT is best enjoyed in a friend group after all. I think there is a possibility the 1 ship restriction might change for SS eventually, but I would not count on it.
The more likely thing could maybe be real private Servers, but then probably without any loot progress earned. I think this has been discussed alrdy sometimes throughout the years, and I think Rare never shut this debate down as much as they did with the alliance server debate xd.The solution to this is extremely simple.
Rare updates to allow up to 8 guild members on the same server.
Based off that, the could load into 1 sloop + 1 gal, 1 sloop + 2 brigs, or 2 Galleons, etc. Basically allowing any combination for members with a max of 3 ships total. Per server.
Deny the use of 4 sloops at once cus it would be over whelming and broken.
Or any use of more than 3.Now you have on average most people sailing with 2 ships. The occasional maxed out at 3.
And up to 8 people playing together.
This would not in any way break the game.
This would not ruin the game.
The real reason why they don't want to do this is because it would create so much more work than they already have and they're already late on literally everything.
Unfortunately sad but true.
Because if they did this then they would have to create a boatload of commendations to go along with them because now there would be multiple crew commendations that would span three ships, Guild combinations for doing things with multiple ships, commendations for getting into a guild battle with multiple ships of your own and another guild with multiple ships, see there are a billion things that they could do if they did this that would make the game 10 times more exciting than it already is and would basically guarantee players help on the Seas whereas right now you might struggle to even find somebody to sail with if you wanted to.
And it would be very easy to just create a different server for this.
In fact, just get rid of safer seas... It's trash. It's not safer at all, because everything is more aggro because there is no players. You will run into a skeleton ship 99% of the time when you leave from any Island, every time. You get 30% less of the loot and XP last I checked. You can't get most of the commendations and you can't do any of the events... What's even the point?
Replace it with a guild seas.
Then you still have the two separate servers
Problem solved.
