Guild Curses Concept

  • Suggested by me and a few friends.

Implementing a Special Curse cosmetic in which those of the guilds which remain in a certain top percentage of the leaderboards have the ability to have a set curse which colors may be changed.

    Requirements:

    • Top 5-10% of players can have access to this feature for their guild.
    • The Captain or Leader of the guild is the only member who has access to change the color or glowing symbol from a selection of options.
    • If a player drops from this spot in guild leaderboards, they lose access to this feature to give them something to work harder for.

If you guys at rare have any other questions or would like me to attempt to provide a visual reference my discord is: OnlyHated
    Thank you for your time!

  • @xonlyhatedx curses should be available to anyone, like all cosmetics. Locking them behind being part of a guild is not a good idea.

  • Guilds really only truly benefit the overall environment by being as inclusive as possible with effective ways of community building

leaning them even more into highly coordinated activity than they already are really just will lead to even less interest.

People finding other people and developing meaningful gaming connections is where guilds thrive, otherwise it's just another form of alliance servers that only serve a small minority of people that are around the social parts of the game all day .

Elitism is a con not a pro in community focused content. It will exist immediately but that's not the positive part of guild opportunity.

  • @tesiccl What if a guild curse was available to all in this case. Any Guild could have a Curse in their Guild Colors?

  • @wolfmanbush A majority of the community enjoy this game for cosmetics I agree but cosmetics that people can grind for such as this and maybe not even make it that it disappears but people keep it even if they drop from that percentage of players. It is a community game this I understand, but I wouldn't see this as mainly elitism. Just pitched the idea, but thanks for your feedback I do appreciate it.

Top 5-10% of players are a lot of the people that live, eat and breathe SoT. Nothing wrong with that but catering to the minority is largely where SoT is shifting away from after doing it for years.

It leads to too little interest in participation which is why they have been leaning into serving the 90% recently.

The entire point of guilds is community so the only way for it to not just become another thing that the status cliques rule over it's gotta serve pretty much everyone at a casual level.

This isn't something like Captaincy which is more individual focused, this is a group effort and that is much more difficult to pull off in SoT for a variety of reasons.

  • @wolfmanbush Then my post stands the curse for all guilds. I've been that 90% before. I salute you.

  • Sounds like Zerging.

  • @crowedhunter Rust in the seas?

  • @xonlyhatedx Rust has water.
