Tips for Reapers?

  • Let me be up front: I don’t wanna do this. Leveling up my reapers is something I’ve been dreading because of a few reasons. It doesn’t fit my play style and I feel like combat in this game is horrible. But it’s the last one I need to 50

Any tips on making it fun or engaging?

  • fleets. easy level 5 and only spawn in 2 spots one is right next to reapers and one isn't far over at krakens. kill quick sell quick is a decent way

if you find flags laying around turn them in

get a bunch of loot without an emissary then at the end put on reapers emissary and get a real quick grade 2 or 3 with a plan like a skelly ship and a cargo run or something to minimize chance of combat

You can do what I call the dread pirate roberts switcharoo which is where you act like a big bad pirate but you just shoot over to ships that aren't hostile and touch their loot and leave them alone without them even knowing and get an easy raised flag without having to fight or harm others

when you spawn in a game where people left stuff like cannonball crates wood crates random items and/or their flag throw up the reaper emissary before touching it then touch it and get an easy level or 2 depending on what you find then go snag a reaper chest or do a quick event like an ashen winds or sail and take out a few skelly ships. This gives you a good bump from the start when the opportunity arises

  • Alright check this out. I'm like you and I need too get my last faction to 75 and it's reapers and don't want all that heat.

Spawning in check the map for a reaper hopefully there is none or it's busy at an event or something you know what to look for.

Raise the merchant alliance flag and buy all the commodities. Lower the flag immediately. Collect the commodities there should be about fifteen.
If they have a cargo mission pick it up and put it down you should be able to pick up the cargo at the same outpost except for the Devils roar witch has its own thing going on. If you put down another it will be close and you can get those to.

Go to the next outpost and do the same.

After the third outpost take all your cargo and commodities and go to the reapers hide out. Make sure nobody is around. Raise the reaper flag and start selling. After a little bit you will start to get multipliers and some rep. After your done selling lower the flag. When selling just keep an eye on the map and horizon.

    Rines and repeat.

You will run out of cargo missions and commodities eventual then it is time to move to a new server. This way your only a reaper when you sell and a emissary when you by commodities. I play solo and understand the struggle. I saw this on a video and it works great. Especially during double gold weekends. Just remember to keep those flags down and keep moving because those reapers like to reap.

Even if you get caught at the hide out and sold most your loot you will come out way ahead .

Hope this helps you become a legend. Yaaarr.

  • My suggestion would be join a lfg of people trying to just sink people.

You can learn a lot about the portion of the game you dread doing by actually doing it.

There is always a chance this goes awesome but a lot of the time it's not going to and for a person going into it that isn't much into pvp it's mostly a personality clash/experience disaster waiting to happen

lfg pvp/reaper ships are gonna have a lot of people that have attitudes that write checks their skills can't cash. A lot of unnecessary bossing around and demanding of people and since the op isn't into that sort of gameplay I see little chance of success in that scenario.

Calm and cool captains in general aren't that common but in any sort of open crew/lfg pvp scenario it's gonna be even more rare.

Op can always try but from everything I've seen it's unlikely to be a compatible situation most of the time.

  • Leveling Reapers is easy; even if you don't want to PvP, just take any mission from any other faction you normally would and hand in the loot to the Reapers - they will take EVERYTHING.

  • You can just do your voyages, world events etc as normal and just go sell it up at reapers like it was any normal vendor... it will take longer if you wish to not put an emmi up but at no point will you be displayed on the map and it will be no different from any other faction.

  • I'll second the commodity method. Sail a loop buying all the crates, but do t sell any. Then, sail to reapers and raise a flag. Sell all of them. Gives you level 5 fairly quickly from selling and has minimal risk.

  • When I want the top level emissary placement, I just do a few Flamehearts and sell the loot at Reapers. I imagine if you actually had the flag up the whole time, it’d go even faster. Or, you could do a fort, leave with the key, and then raise the flag. That way you still get a few flag levels without much more work.

  • get to 50 with pvp

  • Get good at combat.

The combat is actually beautifully designed. You just need to practice. (Which involves sinking and being a good sport about it). You’ll have far more fun if you embrace it, rather than try to cheese the system.

Plus, everyone will resent you as a running Reaper.
Do you want to spend hours running and be unable to sell until you’re eventually sank? Or simply wait people out? I.e. do you value your time?

Or do you want to hone your skills and look down at the wrecks of your foes with a feeling of pride?

75 is a number. You can reach it with better skills and an ability to protect yourself in future battles. Or you can tick boxes.

  • sink people, kill people, and steal loot that is the reapers way

  • My crew-mate and I like to isle hop to small islands where we can watch the horizon and just comb the beaches for loot. Usually after a couple of islands and some sunken ships we’re at level 3 or 4…

  • @mostexpendable The whole point of my question was to avoid the combat. I’m not bad at it by any means but the combat system is far from engaging or rewarding. Most of the time I feel bad for killing enemies due to the system being busted

Sword combat is just jumping around and switching weapons. I do not find that to be fun at all. Nor do I feel ship combat is anymore fun (although it is better)

I’m not doing this to feel pride in getting to reapers max. I’m just a Completionist

  • @grilledcheese10 that’s my opinion on how to do Reapers man.
Combat has got a surprisingly steep learning curve. You’d work that out if you actually tried.
I used my Reaper levelling, as an opportunity to improve my skills. And I don’t regret it.

Just letting you know your options.

From the sounds of it you’ll never get better at the combat or at protecting your loot, but if you’re happy. Go for it.

My tip for you, is get good at running I guess.

  • @mostexpendable Here’s my main predicament: The grind. It takes forever to level them up at about 40-50 usually. I was mainly wondering what the most valuable loot is or event to do as the reapers. Not necessarily how to fight as them.

  • @grilledcheese10 ah fair enough. Flameheart’s great. Skelly fleets too.

    :)

  • @mostexpendable Thanks, guess I worded the original post in a bad manner.

    Cheers matey!
