A couple nights ago we were running OoS Emissary on a brig, came in to outpost to sell, stopped right next to shore. We sold everything and while just standing on the deck, suddenly the ship just vanished. Dropped our flag in the water (said we sank) and all our crates. NBD but it was rather weird. It didn't server merge either.

@theornerybear Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have been TOO close to the shore.
If the game thinks your ship is beached/stuck, it will despawn/sink eventually.
Usually, it is accompanied by the sound of rubbing and creaking.
@wolfmanbush It definitely wasn't touching the shore, or at least didn't look or sound like it, you could swim under the ship. It had also definitely been there longer than 5minutes. Still could have been the same reason though. I didn't think we were too close but what we can see/do doesn't always mean that's how the game sees it. I'll just assume this was the issue.
This exact same thing happened to my crew today. Except there is no possible way we were away too long. Less than 2 mins on shore and the trigger for us was voting to cancel a voyage. Disappearing ship, lost emissary flag and mermaid arrived shortly after.
I’ve opened a support ticket as we were not beached, had zero holes and no PvP engagements.
Sad cuz we were level 5 but such is life.
