It is meant to be rare. I often see multiple every session. I would rather see a couple every few days, rather than a couple every few hours. It's supposed to be a "Oh, a FoF is up! We need to go do that because it's rare!", but it isn't in it's current state.

Honestly, I disagree. It basically reliably spawns only once a night if you and your crew are doing your thing for a few hours.
I’m aware that you’re personally not thrilled about the Season 2 update, but I’m really enjoying how it’s changed the flow of the night for my friends and I.
We get on, and go on adventures. Which may or may not include coming across other vessels.
But at a certain point, that horn sounds, our priorities change, and we decide if we’re going to be sneaky, do the fort ourselves, and/or have an all out server battle for FOF.
And we’ve had some really fun stories come from that.
At least for this Season, the Fort of Fortune has shaken up the experience in a way I didn’t anticipate.
But yeah, it’s an evolving game. So eventually they may change things up.But I’d like to enjoy this a little longer. :)

How long is your session? I play like 2-3 hrs on weekdays and for longer on weekends. I've seen one FoF every other day since the update.
@klutchxking518 it all depends on the lengths of your sessions, the FoF spawns every 3 IRL hours, just like the good old days when there where just forts.
Meaning if you have a session longer then that you can see multiple, but alot of people dont sail for that long. Basicly how it works now is; A new server gets spun up, 3 hours later a FoF spawns, when it despawns or gets defeated the 3 hour cooldown starts before it will spawn again

Yeah, it certainly has - my crew(s) and I haven't been able to finish a single fort (of any kind) since it arrived... 🙄
It appears that forts are back in vogue again. 😒😏
