A possible sea of thieves VR?

  • I’m pretty sure most of us would like to play sea of thieves on VR and I’m sure it would be a good idea, if you find a way to help those who have motion sickness but otherwise I’m pretty sure everyone, or at least most people, would like to try out Sea of Thieves in VR

  • They will never make Sea of Thieves VR because that would mean that swords and guns would have no cooldown. That would mean that you would have too much control and be too successful. Something that the Devs do not want as their games works on harvesting your frustration.

It's the same reason why they say they will fix the hitreg but make it a little bit worse every update.

  • @dpgaming4494 how do you quantify "most of us" I highly doubt most SoT players have a VR rig.

  • My brother already occasionally sails the Sea in VR. As long as you have the right VR setup, a PC, and a very specific mod, you can simulate VR very well while still using a controller.

  • @dpgaming4494 I dabble in VR for educational purposes and I can confidently say that no, not many and certainly not a majority of people are interested in playing this game in VR.
    Reasons:

    • Most people don't care much for VR in the first place.
    • Gameplay involves being on a pitching, rolling ship 90% of the time, making it uniquely unsuited to the VR treatment.
    • Game is designed for longer play sessions where wearing a headset becomes uncomfortable.
    • Game is designed for cooperative play which VR is quite unsuited for, at least couch co-op.
    • Gameplay cannot be adapted for VR by e.g. teleportation or turning at fixed angles, because of PvP balance.

So, given all of the above, only a tiny subset of people would be interested in playing this game in VR and of those an even smaller subset would actually be willing and able to invest in the means to do so. Compare those potential gains to what it would cost to develop and maintain this additional mode.

I wouldn't mind having maybe maidens voyage in vr as in the vr world its called

    Experience

And for that reason alone i think maidens voyage vr would be a great experience i could honestly not say the same about having the entierty of sea of thieves vr

As i recently got my hands on an index i can honestly say this

1: its not possible with how the game is built sea of thieves is not a vr title and cannot become one

2: very few actually owns a vr because of how financially demanding a vr is

3: vr requires a good gaming rig making it even more pricey

4: vr is still very much experimental there are not alot of vr titles out there because it is still being tested and improved

5: vr can induce motion sickness and other health issues such as headaches eye strain and nausea and in some rare occasions hand dissociation where your hands doesn't feel like your own its hella wonky but for that reason some people actually simply can't use one and this paired with being out at sea just isn't a good fit

6: most of the actions would make me drop to the floor like shooting myself out of a cannon my legs would feel weak and i'd drop happened when i decided to stand up during a joyride experience title i flopped down on the ground

While the thought of playing sea of thieves is a mindblowing idea and sounds all great but it really wouldn't work

I'm in tears dear lord I'm in tears. Dear god this was beautiful and amazing.

I sank the other day because my ship got rammed. Its all good. I'm on the boat and I just blunderbombed the enemy off my ship. I jump from the anchor onto the tarp of my ship AAAAAAAAND I glitch through the boat into the water.

I tried to eat some food yesterday while fighting a crew. I ate the kraken meat, coconut pulls out and I immediately pull out my sword. No health gain. Pull food out again and there is the same half eaten piece of kraken meat. Try to eat it and pull out sword again. Still no health. I did this 2 more times then finally got caught and died.

I climbed the ladder onto a sloop last week and when I reached to the top I got flung off. Not like I got shot flung off, No I got flung off and went backwards like I did some kind of reverse sword dash.

I tried to sword lunge off my boat. I get the lunge, my character flies up and then I glitched back on to my boat then fall off lol.

The most frustrating thing that I know feeds this game?

Every single time since The update like 2 months ago or whatever. I dodge or side step sword swings and I time my hit to make sure I get the first attack. I'm still hit through my attack or I'm even on the second swing and I'm still getting hit through my attacks.

lolololololololol I said to my crewmate the other day that the reason why Rare is keeping the game the way it is, because if you look at it. The bugs and glitches only effect PvP. Ship combat, teleporting through the boat, not being able to eat food, being attacked through a perfectly time sword swing or sword swing where you have the advantage. I made a comment on how Rare is probably doing this intentionally to get rid of their PvP community without having to actually tell us they want us gone.

While you have many excellent points, I have already proven that it's available, and doesn't require any extra modes or navigational techniques usually suited to strictly VR games.

  • i would play every game in vr with pad. it were fun play with move controls but thats the problem with vr it need more aaa games.like cyberpunk in 4 k ...sea of thieves for sure would be awesome the problem is the pvp i would have no problem with the waves maybe idk,but fast 360 turn arounds in vr would be awfull

  • This just made me think of Phasmaphobia in Sea of Thieves...
Galleons’s Grave is haunted by something or someone!
    Evidence:
    Glorious Sea Dog Hat
    Glorious Sea Dog Jacket
    Glorious Sea Dog Blunderbuss
    Ghost: Sea Dog

Unfortunately i think you are correct. As much as i love VR.

I suppose all they could do is make a VR server and have it seperate.
It would work then but then how many people would actually play that way all the time?
