I love this game, and I think the game is amazing. My suggestion would be to add in a wake for these massive ships to add some realism. The ground work for this is already there on your map.. Now you just need to take the dotted line and translate that into a graphical representation on the water.

There isn't really any ground work for this at all.
You're talking about shader deformation based on ship size that needs to be synchronized to all other players over the network vs. a dashed line drawn on a map. :-/
The physics simulation for the ships is already the biggest load on the server, and if you haven't noticed the waves always go in the same direction for simplicity. I don't think they are going to be adding customizable deformation to implement ship wakes any time soon.
@fxt-redwolf I remember hearing somewhere that they actually had them in the early days of the game development, but had to take it out due to the severe performance issues it was creating.
