Chain Shot

  • The chain shot is going to be overpowered, especially if several can easily be stored on a ship and shot fast. We all know that with 20 minutes of looting islands you can get an enormous amount of resources.

    I would suggest to reduce it's power by half and necessitating two shots to take down elements on top of the boats and no damage to the hulls; you either shoot perfectly (twice) or nothing.

    Imagine, one chain shot, one fire ball and then cannon balls, you're dead if you play solo on a sloop. Now it's still cool cause by soloing you have a chance to take over a 2 men brig even

  • Or maybe don't put yourself in a position that leaves you that vunerable.

    Especially as a solo player is paramount to ensure you always get the first shot and ensure you don't leave yourself open to get shot.

    This is just silly. Nothing needs to be nerfed.

    If anything a few things need a buff. Like the fire as an example.

  • @orso-grande why dont we wait and see what it's like. It looks like it has about half the range of a normal cannon shot so they need to be close. And changing it two barely makes it better than a normal cannonball.

  • @orso-grande It's going to be just fine, this chain-shot is going to almost double the skill ceiling in this game... This will encourage, and reward pirates with a tactical mind, and good team work.

    This is a step in the right direction, for the game. It's going to make truly skilled pirates stand out, may the true legends of the sea emerge, and the era of pirate captains begin! :3

    Btw, hitting a chain-shot isn't going to be easy, that's why it's not going to be a problem for you, unless you allow your ship to remain stationary and be shot at, obviously. :P

  • Sloop is not supposed to be sailed solo - it's made for two players. We are still missing the real solo ship so perhaps the harder the life gets for solo sloopers the faster we get it.

    Large part of the game is about doing voyages, voyages mean the players leave the ship for extended period of time. Getting hit by the chain shot instead of the regular cannonball is gonna shift the chances of successful defense significantly in favor of the ambushers. With all the offensive features it would be lovely to get a defensive one like for example reinforcing the ship parts with planks.
