Great idea!
I believe that these ideas can really bring strategy into close combat. It's the same with bringing cooked food into battle, (to get an advantage over others) but except with a weapon that is starting to lose power quickly.
Another one could be going to islands where there are worshipping history there, like the Megalodon. If the player stands there while blocking with their sword they could get ancient powers that curses their sword, but this one is with 5 hit/miss to lose as the players have to go to the specific island to gain the power. Each sacred place would have its own ability for example:
Megalodon: Makes the victim's sight darker for 5 seconds, but once hit again it adds
another 5 seconds, but the max time is 15 seconds so get hit 5 times
won't give the victim 25 seconds of struggling to see.
Crab: The crab power will decrease the victims attack damage by -3% for 10 seconds.
Once hit multiple times the victim's damage will be decreased even more by -3
(-3% -6% -9% -12% -15$) -15% is the max and every time the victim is hit the
duration will reset back to 10 seconds.
And some others that I have forgotten sadly...
Players cannot have more than 1 power/ability on their swords. When attacking an enemy who is blocking with a cutlass that is cursed (power/ability) the attacker will steal the ability from the blocker and now they will have the ability but it works like this:
Enemy has 3 attacks with their ability, you attack them and they block, you now have 1 attack for that ability that the enemy has while the enemy now has 2 attacks for their ability. If they do block again they will have 1 attack with it and you will have 2. This will make the player with the ability more cautious when using the ability on their sword. But not to mention that if you use all of your ability attacks on an enemy and they die within 3 seconds of being attacked you will be rewarded with another 3 or 5 hits of the same ability that you attacked them with. This means that if you use all of your attacks on someone and your fellow sailor kills him with his weapon, you will still get your ability back. This will make players want to charge in to eliminate everyone and still know that they will have the ability if one is to be killed.
Wow, I spent a lot of time typing this, I should be doing work but I am instead here giving suggestions to a game I love. Thanks for reading my response.
