Arena Que Changes

  • I understand that on a closed crew you must have 3 people to start arena. I understand the why, but its not feasibly working. Who wants to do arena if you have 3 hrs of play time and it takes 1 hr per arena due to que time and the fact that you can't server hop anymore. I'm begging for a fix so that que times are drastically reduced or at the very least back to where we can all join a match to see which starts first. The waiting time is ridiculously wasteful in relation to a players net amount of gaming time. The one I'm currently in has been trying to fill for 15 mins now.

  • So this game takes an s load of time to “play”.

    Which is cool cause it’s my “Sunday” or I.e. s load of time to chillax in game.

    Arena was suppose to be the “Hey you only got 30 minutes? 45 minutes? 60 minutes before you gotta RL” fix.

    But it don’t work. I don’t know if it’s the match making or what but it don’t work.

    I don’t even bother logging in without a 2-4 hour “Free time”...

    If Arena “worked” I would play more frequently. I just don’t always have 2-4 hours.

  • I'd rather just spawn into a live match.
    Don't care if I'm the only guy with an AFK'er on a galleon or sloop.

    Just drop me into a live match, more often.

  • Arena is honestly broken.

    Today I spend 2 hours trying to get into lobbies, when one took over 30mins, I left and tried to rejoin another one with my teammates. Same thing. I've realized the 2 reasons why Arena takes so long especially for PC.

    1 - Open crews. You are not allowed to start a game without a minimum number of players, however, after you start it, it doesnt matter. You could sit in the lobby completely BY yourself and lock it down. It won't ever start because 1 ship doesn't have crew mates. So an open crew joins the lobby and then the player leaves that crew. They join, check the profile of the person they are playing with and then leave. The player never gets a crew mate and he is NOW keeping everyone from starting until he gets one.

    2 - Xbox players leaving constantly. They join, see top right corner, or check recent players list and just up and leave. This creates a new issue because now the lobbies are getting players but players aren't staying because they are whiny noobs. On the few occassion I can actually get into these lobbies the games start up within 10mins.

    They need to remove the crew counter for open crews. If you start a game with no crew, thats on you. Shouldn't have to punish the rest of the players just because someone doesn't want to bother making a LFG post.

    Last point I want to make, anyone that actually "LIKES" the arena? I haven't met a single person that actually likes it. They just do it for the commendation.

  • They had to introduce the 3 player cap in closed crews. Players were searching solo closed crew at the same time as the rest of their crew, all trying to get in the same lobby.

    For example, a 4 player crew splits up, and gets 4 solo galleons on a server, with a 5th random crew. The countdown would then start, and the 4 players would all join one ship, creating the opportunity for ez wins, especially if the 5th crew was not full. This was even worse when 8+ players were doing it and sharing the victories, while teaming up on the other random ship.

    Making 3 player minimums reduces the chance of getting multiple ships in the server unless you have 6+ players from the same region, who are well versed in cheating. Still doable, but more difficult and time consuming.

    Aside from that, yes, arena wait times are very bad.

    Rare should advise xbox-searching players that 'xbox search' has failed before loading them into an open tavern.

    This would reduce the occurence of Xboxers leaving open servers, and stop Xboxers from enduring multiple loading screens. Win-win, dont you think?

  • @xultanis-dragon I agree that the lobby times are a pain but had to respond to let you know that I certainly like arena :). I love adventure as well but sometimes I really just want pvp and arena is that fix for me. My mate doesn't care for adventure too much but loves arena too. I wish they would lower the amount of islands and chests so that chest points don't count for as much in the overall score however as its leading to people avoiding pvp and going just for chests. It is very very very VERY toxic a lot of the time however I simply turn off proximity chat and its all goochy :) Lag and hit reg can be a pain too. Love the game mode overall though and hope they add new unlockables at some point because I am about to get my legendary weapons soon :D

  • Where’s all the posts now about Legendary weapons being in Arena makes sense now? How can we work to earn them when no one will be playing this hot mess?

    The issue is that to many players are needed to get the match going. I’ve said for awhile now they should have where there are separate modes of TDM CTF Oddball modes.

  • @k1lroyw4sh3r3 Getting lobbies going is a mess that they need to fix, primarily there are not enough people that want to play arena due to horrible hit reg and lag, plus an overabundance of chests making the winner the ship that avoids fights and digs, If they drastically reduce chests and allow pvp to have a much bigger impact on your score then that would bring a nice few back I feel. Fortunately rare are extremely slow to make adjustments to arena and the network issues have been there since launch so I honestly dont know if they can fix that at this point. Arena shines a big spotlight on those issues so its not looking good. I have many wasted hours ahead of me in these lobbies before I get my legendary cutlass :( pity
