Dont spawn new starters in storms...

  • Please make it so you don't start your game in the middle of a storm.

It may be OK for a galleon but not for a sloop, as they quickly fill with water even when just stocking up on supplies and missions before setting off.

You have a choice of trying to sail through the storm solo or wait it out at the outpost and constantly bail your ship while you wait for the storm to pass. Not the best way to start a game.

  • But it's a new way to start your new epic adventure. I love that every session is markedly different, whether is small stuff like a storm or bigger events from battle.

  • This made me laugh out loud cause I know how much that sucks, but on the bright side I heard your actually more likely to find messages in a bottle or washed up loot after a storm has been to an island. Yea not cool to do to solos though if you are just joined if you scuttle it should take you out of the storm.

  • @a-sp4c3m4n Is that true about the bottles and loot?

  • I typically just scuttle my ship if I spawn into a storm. Might want to keep that option in mind the next time this happens.

  • @stroro idk theres a lot of rumours on these seas

  • Excluding potential damage from holes, though you start anchor down so it's unlikely your going to rub against a dock (anything is possible I suppose), the rate that water is added by storms is extremely slow. There's always a layer of water even if you bail, allowing you to bail indefinitely... but beyond that one layer of water....

There is literally no reason to bail "constantly".

Do people really think that you need to bail in a storm, practically at all?

Excluding holes... I drive through storms, park in storms and conduct voyages, have spawned in storms, etc... I don't think I've bailed from water accumulation perhaps one time, as a matter of NEED.

Sure, it's wise to check because "anything can happen" and small holes will surprise you.. but I really don't think storms need a single adjustment. Versus spawning into them, or otherwise.

Hell, I say make them more deadly...add potential whirlpools to them!

  • I kinda have to disagree with OP. It's fun for variety. Plus, I tend to have great luck on islands that I scuttle-spawn on with random loot. Since you just started, just grab what you can, vote to scuttle, and then catch the friendly mermaid. Whatever island you end up on will more than likely have a few barrels, and if you're lucky, a free crate of spices. (Granted, this won't work for Merchant stuff since you won't be able to bring the cages with you.)

  • In a storm it doesn't fill with water that fast...still got more than enough time for it...when you're 5 minutes not looking at it it's about three buckets of water...and in this time the storm is allready gone
