New Game Mode battle Royal

  • Ok Guys and Girls,

I think we can all agree Battle Royal games are big. And for good reason the game play is fun and rewarding. I Think SOT is ideal for this format 100People zone in to the map the sea has barrels and islands all over with cannon balls wood and nanas and gunpowder barrels so you can stock up your ship from that point the strom builds and moves in on the map from all sides slowly creating the " eye of the storm" this will be the area that ships can have battle. the last ship floating wins you have unlimited lives till the point your ship sinks. this could be a free to play game mode much like fortnight but if you want some of the best skins in the game you need to be a pirate legend to equip them. thoughts. ?

  • Nope, sorry

  • Ehhhh I don’t think it goes with the idea of the game imo. But interesting nevertheless

  • @callofdfreak69 This would at least provide a solid game loop something we are currently lacking

  • Please no!, this is not what the game is about.

  • F*s....no more BR games....its the same as zombie games....HEY JOE U WANNA PLAY A ZOMBIEGAME????

No thanks, let this game go its own direction and not be a copycat like the rest. Its already unique, just lacking content.

  • Is there an issue with the reply feature on other people's threads at the moment?

There are a plethora of threads that have already discussed this.

  • It's actually really easily implementable with what they already have in the game. Red water from going OOB & a storm closes in gradually on the final spot, would give reasons to fight on islands towards the end.

  • @chermal dear got no. just because this has become a fad doesn't ,mean every game now needs to become this. this game is perfect playing the way it does. add some more content and fix some bugs and we got potentially one amazing game.

  • As I have said in the various other threads about this, I think it would definitely be a fun secondary mode, and definitely something Rare should consider adding ABOUT A YEAR FROM NOW when they've had chance to properly flesh out and bug fix the base game.

The arguments that there should never be a BR mode just because SoT doesn't "need" it or that there are already other BR games that people could play instead are both very dumb, SoT is poised in a position where it could have a very interesting take on the BR genre, and as long as the dev team still continues to focus mainly on the normal mode then even if you personally wouldn't want to play it, it's existence still doesn't negatively impacting you in any way, if anything it still does benefit you because it would draw in a bunch of new people giving Rare a big second wave of funding to continue development in year 2 onwards.

  • @wisespade7 I am in no way saying the current game model should be scrapped its an amazing game and I can say I quit PUBG on the release of this game. the PVP in my mind is the best part of this game and its strongly based on skill and teamwork. however unfortunately most people are not willing to engage in a good battle. The accpetion is if they have nothing to louse. On the off chance you are attacking a ship with loot 9 times out of 10 they just run and attempting to drop your anchor and not fight. I just want to have some epic ship battles and this game mode would 100% fill that void in the current game mode.

  • @ch4o5bl4d3 i can see your point about using this as a way to give life to the game if it starts to die., however i do not agree you need to strike when the iron is hot and before the vast population have forgot this game exists how many people talk about no mans sky.... no one. I assume and I could be incorrect that creating a game mode like this would require vary little in the way of coding as all the bones of the game are completed the islands ships maps etc

  • I want to make it clear i do not think the original game should be scapped just an additional game mode be implemented for people who enjoy the mechanics and team work involved in open sea ship battles

  • @chermal oh come on....the mainstream thing is boring. This game has it's own style...please don't make them ruin it.

  • @northlending I do not see how this would ruin the game as it would have zero impact on the full game mode we are currently playing. would just be an ancillary game mode. can i can assure you it would not be boring as i have stated the pvp is the most engaging part of the game that to be a good crew requires team work and communication not required in other aspects of this game as it currently stands.

  • No......

  • No way times a million. The last thing this game and the developers need is to be seen as sellouts who couldn’t complete a game and hopped on the BR hype train. They need to finish the game they envisioned first.

  • @chermal Even six months from now could be fine to start working on it if the next six months of development go well but I do think that diverting any devs to work on a new mode so soon after "launch" before they've actually finished ironing out base mode would be a mistake... lets be honest here, even the people who love this game know is basically little more than an "early access" title that MS forced Rare to "release" before it was really ready.

  • Not every game needs a battle royale. Sea of Thieves is definitely one of the games that doesn't.

  • Maybe in 6 months to a year, the game is set up for it, although it would be chaos and the games would be longer than standard BR games. It would need its own take on them, an original concept in terms of the nature of BR

  • SoT with BR, i dont think so

  • @ryscir Look in to fortnight it was the same issue i payed 80$ for the game on release who looks at epic as a sellout the fact is a service is provided that people like. don't get bogged down on the perception look at the potential results.

  • @chermal In my opinion it would be bad in order than instead having the full team on te original game developing things they would be working on a thing that its mainstream and as we saw before is going to die in short time. Took as an example rainbow six siege, they had a lot of problems when it came out and with the time it became his own thing. Apart of that having a second mode would break de community on 2 groups and in the worse case one mode would have more people than the other making one of the modes unplayable and unsupported by the devs.

  • @captplundapantz the game would be longer yes however this would not be a issue as the respawn element would be available in other words you would have no down time. the current BT Meta would have you sit at a spectator screen to the point your team wins or are all killed however as you would not be out till your ship was to sink this would no longer be a issue.

  • I would like some gamemode/quest where people actually engage, never seen much ships on the horizon that don't flee on first sight. (Except pirate fortresses)

Some good sea battle from both motivated pirates does sound appealing.

  • @chermal
Let me start off with this, this is a good idea as BR games are really fun and enjoyable, they keep players on their feet and I play my own share in BR games too. I however do see why this idea for SOT has received backlash. Let me just point out, like you mentioned in one of your comments, pvp in SOT is great, it incorporates teamwork in ways no other game does. That being said, having a battle Royale mode would be confirming this unique gameplay style to a mainstream game mode where as what SOT is about is changing how people play the game. Pvp is a huge aspect of the game, however game modes like BR would be hard to incorporate in a game like this. They would come across many issues such as ship maneuverability with the storm closing in and as the eye shrinks, ships can only turn so much while being effectively functional in pvp. Another issue is it would take away the focus of the game which is to create a unique world and environment where there is a mix/ balance between questing and plundering, and ultimately creating your own story path in a complete anarchist world of SOT. Introducing a separate free BR mode would contradict the principles in which the game was created. Now, is your idea a bad one? No it’s a great idea, is it a practical one though? Not so much. It however does speak on the pressing issue of how Rare should incorporate aspects that enhance the gameplay of players who wish to focus on pvp and players who want to focus on questing.

I have started a thread here regarding different alliances they could launch to address the issues of gameplay content or enhanced pvp, feel free to post your ideas there!

  • @chermal oh dear lord no , this would be the end.

  • PLEASE USE THE SEARCH BAR. You will find that you are not original and not the first to mention this.

I do not thing this game is built for a BR mode. Too many things need to be adjusted/fix or even rebuilt to make this a BR game.

  • @chermal And what makes you think that a game that doesn't run lag free with 16 players max would be able to run 100 people in any capacity?

  • Well Ubisoft is making World of Warships Pirate Skin Edition (Skull and Bone) So if you want a battle Royal style game that would be more your style instead of the RPG that is Sea of Thieves

  • 😂😂😂
    I'm sorry... 🤣😅 ... No really I'm sorry ...ok.
I understand your enthusiasm for all those "Battle Royal" mode (please tell me you watch the Japanese film Battle Royal) who popping everywhere , like weeds in my garden .
But the essence of Sea Of Thieves is far far away from that idea .

Please I am sure you could come up with an ORIGINAL idea of your own we could all discuss about , even if it's like adding fishing rod to be able to sell fishes to the Merchant .
Anything but that Battle Royal nonsense .
    😉

  • @canthavetesalsa I agree it would not be a seamless transition however you made appoint about ship maneuverability as a issue. I am sure you are well versed in sailing in the sea of thieves but it should be noted a ship can turn on a dime using club hauling ( anchor turn ) and a quick 4 man anchor pull you can do this in seconds. furthermore if the sails are fully raised you can spin on the spot allowing you to make sure your cannons are always pointed at the enemy ship. the game was created to be something amazing this is true unfortunately as it stands now that never came to fruition. just because something was designed to be one way does not mean it can not be more then the original idea. i would like to one again reidirate this mode would have little to no affect on the intended game mode and would be a side game mode to play.

  • @twiladerp Odds are i will buy this game as well however the sailing in that game is one player per ship so the idea working as a team to sail and fight is not possible that is what i feel makes PVP in SOT so amazing and interactive.

  • @chermal no, no, no,no,nooooooo

  • No thx. Bad idea
