Suggestions to fill out the game and add depth, not more fluff.

  • I've been playing for over a week now (over 2 if you count betas) and I feel like I can perfectly articulate how I feel about the content situation and what I think this game needs.

    Customization wise- I'm sad that there are straight up non-included areas like the wheel or the cannons or the "name plate" above the captains quarters that's just blank. Stuff like this is what makes me so eager for a heads-up from the team. I think the store has enough different gear, but I'm sad the next tier of looks has such a high level requirement. Especially in the ship department as lvl 50 and "Legend Status" was toted as the "cool new unique ship" tier; I feel you wont get to see your new livery from hitting lvl 50 for too long. I'd still like to see achievement specific gear or tattoos too.

    Gameplay wise- I'd like to see an indicator on islands (like birds around a sunken ship) that have something. If an island has a chest or a skull "washed up" on its shores, then have parrots or bats flying above it so you know to stop. The riddles have us searching islands, but I'd love something more interesting. A bounty board (like a message in a bottle, but at an outpost) could add extra treasure or combat options to your current voyage and could be outpost specific but multiple crews could take it (first-come first-serve) with new ones spawning daily.

    Voyage/Company wise- I feel like the Merchants/OoS voyages aren't as robust as the Gold Hoarders; not just in objectives but also in treasure/rewards. Skulls need a dangerous and more valuable variant a la the Chest of Sorrows/Grog. Merchant quests (and islands too) could be spiced up with larger animals (I don't know whats tropically correct: bears or leopards or wolves) and thus quests to get their pelts (maybe they drop already in a crate to keep with the playful theme).

    All-in-all, I love the game; I just don't want it to die out. I feel like my ideas help fill in the gaps to make it feel like a more complete game, instead of adding new systems that also need to be fleshed out.

  • I've also been playing the game since the first beta, I love it. But it needs more to make it better. The way the game is currently allows for the developers to add in so much to it.

    I would like to see more wildlife in the environment, such as;
    More fish in the seas, sea turtles, dolphins, whales, maybe more types of sharks. Land creatures such as iguanas, Jaguars, leopards, and other animals like these just to make the world come to life.

    Moving on to gameplay itself, I would like to see more weapons and tools. Right now as it is there isn't really a whole lot to purchase (or steal) I think adding more items, clothing, and gear with stats that are better or worse then others. And weapons that deal more or less damage. Character customization is also very minimal, it would be cool if there was more you could do besides hair and clothing.

    Ships. Ships in this game are really interesting, I love the way sailing works, adjusting the masts, anchoring and all that. Sloops are really useful for going solo or grinding out voyages with a friend. Galleons are great too, but they seem to be better at fighting rather then voyaging (Just my opinion, I do like voyaging with four-man crews.) they're hard to maneuver when it comes to stopping at an island, and if you have to get out in a hurry its tough to get the anchor and sails ready and then start moving while being under attack. What I'm getting at is there should be larger crews for the galleon, like 4-8. Now I know people are gonna say, "well that's not fair what are small crews gonna do against large crews like that.." My idea would be adding some ship stats, which brings me to my next point. More types of ships, the Sloop and Galleon are cool but I want to see more. More ships and bigger crews.

    Sloop- 2 to 3 man crew
    Galleon- 4 to 6 man crew
    Brig- 4 to 6 man crew
    Frigate- 6 to 8 man crew
    Man O' War- 10 man crew (Just an idea probably won't happen but I can dream)

    Sloops are already agile and quick, but what if as a counterbalance to 8 or man crews, smaller ships can outrun bigger ones.

    Anyway, before I write up a novel, I have tons of ideas I think would be cool to add to the game but obviously, not all of them can happen.
    The main things that would fill the game are new weapons and gear, wildlife, more ships, more loot, and more items.

  • @usmc-22-warrior Just imagine a poor Sloop trapped in by two teams who are working together both with Man O' Wars... Joking aside I would love to see your ship suggestions ingame and well it could definitely change the ship combat.
