  • In the interest of fairness I thought it was worth mentioning a few things about WaterAid, starting with generally, how they spend their money globally.

I personally think it's about time we moved to charities being more transparent about their operations so we can fully appreciate the incredible work so many do. That focus should be included in their campaigning.

In 2005, when Charities were a little more transparent on pay, their Chief Executive, Ravi Narayanan was paid £55,000.
In 2015, Barbara Frost, their Chief Exec was paid £128,333.
They have a new chief exec, Tim Wainwright, who began in 2017. (salary not disclosed)

You can see their annual reports at this site - https://www.wateraid.org/our-annual-reports

However, few charities are transparent with their pay or funding so you won't find detail in their reports.

WaterAid do not feature in the top 100 for chief exec salaries, which considering the wide range of work they do, is very positive. They do however have many different CEO's in different countries.

Pay for their other CEO's in USA, Canada, Australia and Sweden are not listed. However, I believe in Sweden you can request those details as law states pay is transparent. (happy to be corrected there)

You can see their general highest salary spend in the graph below. Some people may say these salaries are high but compared to the private sector and other charities, they are not widely considered a pay offender.

  • Hey! I just wanted to say "best of luck" during the charity event. Our gaming community (GIA or the Gaming International Association) does a major charity drive every Christmas, and several smaller events throughout the year. If you are ever promoting another event, I encourage you to post it in Discord; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the support your receive. You can find details at GamingIA.com

    Again, best of luck!
