Anchored ship gets destroyed while on mission, can't complete mission.

  • It's very difficult to pay solo when you get constantly harassed by pvp players. Can't complete missions because they either do sail-bys and destroy your ship or they get fixated on you and chase you around the entire map.

  • You can always not play solo, people are usually pretty welcoming but if you still want to solo you just need to look for ships more

  • You got to get better at it bud. There are many posts that give tips and tricks for solo players.

  • I wish I came across enough players to be constantly harassed by them wanting to PvP :(

Doesnt make sense anyway what you say, if your ship gets destroyed, you get a new one, and doesnt mean you cant complete a mission neither. And if you mean your chest gets stolen, it wasnt yours to begin with, start a new quest. Stop being a 'casual' xD

  • @reaverx81
Here you go m8, have a read of this fantastic post by the lovely @KattTruewalker
There's loads of hints & tips for the aspiring soloist ;)
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/24675/alone-on-a-wide-wide-sea-collected-hints-and-tips-for-the-solo-pirate

  • Stash your loot. Make note of the island and swim out to the mermaid to get your ship back. Sail back to the island, and if the coast is clear, snatch and grab your loot, and high tail it to the nearest outpost.

Also, evasive maneuvers are your friend.

If you can't hack it solo, join a larger crew until you get the hang of the game. Its more fun and easier to progress with other people.

  • @logansdadtoo Not everyone has access to that thread, must be pioneer's only.

  • Yeahhhhhhh, I'm going to go ahead and need pioneer access...
@logansdadtoo said that @KattTruewalker made a lovely post for soloist, I'm going to need to read that... I sooo swear not too abuse it...

    https://www.newonnetflix.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/office-space.jpg

  • @thorhammer3 Who don't want this access? :(

  • Arrrr that @LogansDadToo be teasin' us with tantilising tales too tempting to tell to us 'common deck swabs' I say we make 'im walk the plank.....or just point at 'im accusingly... arrrrr sniff

  • @stacky-a @Thorhammer3 @JCMDeadpool @Wargrym
    I'm really sorry, i didn't realise!!
I think it's because the original post was in the Tech Alpha section, where most of you could have then read it, but unfortunately has now been archived!
I'll have a word & see what we can do as most of the tips would help new solo players in the beta!!
@Deckhands - Is there anything we can do??

  • @logansdadtoo I hope. Would love to read the post. Maybe also tag @KattTruewalker here?

  • @jcmdeadpool @LogansDadToo @ReaverX81

Ahoy there - the post is in the Pioneer's section currently, so with limited access as feedback etc is still covered by the NDA - hopefully by the time Beta arrives it will be available for more public scrutiny.

@ReaverX81 is your post about your tech Alpha experiences or Pioneer? If it's Pioneer your badge isn't showing and a logging out, clearing cache will hopefully sort that out.

  • Just a tip from my Solo-plays.

Don't play the game solo as you would play it with more people. Solo really needs a different way of thinking about surival in the Sea of Thieves world. I can't say what will work for you, but try some different sailing and turning ;)

This tactic helped me out a couple of times. :
When you are on a mission and see another ship. Don't put the treasure chest on your boat. HIDE! it on the island. Wait for what the other players will do. If they destroy your ship and even kill you. The treasure will stay in the spot where you left it. If it is on your boat it will eventualy sink.

  • @cypherius-nl

Used this tip very recently, hid some bounty skulls in a nice bushy location on Snake Island, was being chased by 2 galleons so scuttled my ship at the beach and let them think I was done for. Came back and reclaimed my treasure.

Another good tip is, don't go long distances of time without cashing in your booty if you don't want to lose it.

  • It happens man

  • @pyropixie666 said in Anchored ship gets destroyed while on mission, can't complete mission.:

    This!
I think I can remember 1 clear scenario when our ship got sinked by noobism. We were a 2 man crew and we anchor braked to close to the island. It got hit by the shore and we got some holes. Didn't check hull damage and jumped to find the treasure. When we came back with the treasure the ship was sinking being to late to save. Then another ship started to appear close to the island. I hid with 2 treasures in a bush, and my friend went and get the boat. This works.

Oh and there was also a situation when I crashed after digging out a treasure. My fault. Internet died. When I went back to the island the treasure was still there. So they don't disapear fast.

  • I have had great success with the same tactics @ExplosiveBoby talks about.
The trick is, use your map best you can, and park on the side the treasure is on. Most importantly, look around for ships before you go ashore and keep an eye on your ship best you can while searching, get in and get out. Doesn't leave time to "smell the roses" but, safest way to solo play I've found.

    Edit: @Musicmee said
"Another good tip is, don't go long distances of time without cashing in your booty if you don't want to lose it."

    This is great advice btw.

I have solo played with six chests on board at once, was so nervous! Gah I love this game!

  • Arr! @Wargrym and me'self might be letting you and ye crew live, but you best be handn' o'ver yer pioneer badge there Captain @LogansDadToo ... And don't ye be thinking of getting all heroic... @Wargrym be awful skillful with he cutlass... And I be a' betting @KattTruewalker not be wantn' to swab de' forum of all the mess... Yar!

  • @reaverx81 I think they should make the solo ships better for battling, because right now the bigger ships have a huge advantage.

  • @guidingleader How about an aft cannon? That'd deter those sloop chasers... What you think? Yay or nay?

  • @thorhammer3 yay

  • @guidingleader The sloops might only have 2 cannons but it's a faster ship with greater maneuverability. Adding more cannons would make it to strong.

I can't wait to take on a galleon with my solo sloop.

  • There are a number of things you can do to mitigate this. One of the obvious ones is to load all of your cannon before setting sail.

Play it like you were playing a black flag sea battle i.e. manoeuvre your ship, then go man the cannon as you sail by on your chosen trajectory, then turn to the other side to unleash the next set of cannon. Then sail away while re-loading for another pass. You'll find that these PvP-ers will think twice about pursuit when they have taken damage from you almost equal to the damage they dealt.

Also make a b-line for port as soon as you have chests on board. Put the chests below deck so that you have a chance to kill any boarders before they can gank them too!

There are many solo strategies. Just think like a pirate ;)

  • It fills this old Salt's good eye with sea water to see the lessons of the Old Leather being passed down to those still gettin' thar sea legs...

Good on ye, lads... good on ye.

    This round's on me.

  • Man am I glad I read this since I might be soloing a bit til I get the hang of things/get my crew together!
