Please allow basic keyboard usage when playing on console and prefer-controller-players is on

    The only reason that I connect a keyboard to a console (PS5 OR XSX) is for quicker/easier text entry. In this game, it is pretty much just for text chat (and the rare "name this thing" scenario). Controllers don't have enough buttons to dedicate one for text chat, so it would be awesome if we could at least use the 'T' key (or whatever a player has their keyboard binding set to for text chat) to initiate text chat and type a message without needing a controller button binding for it or having to use the platform's software keyboard for text entry. Please consider allowing it?

    If possible, it would be great if prefer-controller-players only excluded mouse input and not keyboard. Sometimes as a casual player, it's nice to use controller + the occasional keyboard shortcut. It really offers no advantage in PvP or anything, it's just a preference. I rarely do that in any game, but I know some younger players who do that in games like Minecraft and would find it helpful while out exploring in this game.

    Just use a Chatpad on the Xbox.
    No need to have a keyboard in a "Controller Only" Lobby.

    If it could only be used for text only then i could understand that, but im not sure how easy or complicated it would be for the game to detect that.

    @burnbacon 1) that doesn't address PS5. 2) just because you don't want it doesn't mean others don't want or need it.

    The nice thing is it already detects when you are in game and playing on controller-only mode, ignoring mouse & keyboard only when both conditions are met. If you open up any of the menus while in game, keyboard still works in there. In theory, taking the above filter from allowing no input to allowing a single command through should be easily doable, depending on the state of their code of course. But I also understand this is a pretty low priority ask, so unlikely to get traction... can't hurt to try and get it on someone's radar.

    What doesnt that address? You want to chat using a Keyboard.
    "MoKo Keyboard for PS5" there you go. That way you get what you want.

    No need for a keyboard in a Controller only Lobby. But a Chatpad works just as well. If not better.
    (Someone who has ps5 players pals who use this very thing)

    Yup, there is a need. Just because you are unable to see it and unwilling to acknowledge that the opinions of others are valid does not invalidate those opinions, nor make you right. You have made your position quite clear, but I'm suggesting this to Rare, the developer, not you.
    To Rare, I would add that, in terms of accessibility, not everyone can bend their fingers to use a miniscule keyboard chatpad. Furthermore, if those chatpads send keyboard events, they still cannot be used to trigger text chat, as was my original proposal.
