Game Crash at Rare Screen at launch......help

  • I also cant get into the game since update launched, same with the insider version. Ive tried everything everyone has said incl reinstall.

  • @commodoremerlin I meant that if all servers are up, you should announce that they are up. In order to community aware that they can enter the game.

  • @vipor51 Same here.

  • @rarecsm Its working now flawleslly! Its the same issue like with Killer Instinct Game. You need to uninstall sonic studio 3 an restart.

  • @andisloarg I did this and still not working. I also took all ASUS software off my pc and nothing.

    So confused.

  • I have the same issue. I have uninstalled/reinstalled this game 4 times and in different drives as well. Same results.
I tried everything from this site:

    and still, same results.
When i disconnected my Ethernet cable, i managed to get passed to where it says "Press any buttons to continue" and then it just crashes. I do know that you need to be online in order to play this game but when i am connected to the internet, it doesn't even go pass by the "R" logo.
This is also after the update.

  • Apparently, to get my issue resolved, I had to uninstall both Sonic Studio 3 AND Sonic Radar 3. It was the only software change I had since I last played a working game.

  • I was having the crash at Rare screen as well, uninstalled Sonic Studio, AND Sonic Radar, and now I am able to launch the game.

  • The same fix worked for me. Uninstalled Sonic Studio, AND Sonic Radar. I did have to run the integrity check a final time but was fine afterwards.

  • Same Probleme here, Game keeps crashing when i Start it between the Rise - Xbox Logo everytime without an Error since 21.04.2020 the Day before it worked completely fine.

Already tried everything in the Support Post & Reddit and also the mentioned Sonic Studio / Radar.

    Still Same crash, Eventlog (German):

  • Running into the same issue as most everyone else here. Removed Sonic Studio still crashing out at the Rare logo, reviewing the error logs looks pretty much identical to mine, any help would be appreciated so we can get back to sailing the seas

  • Had time to attempt more troubleshooting; having now uninstalled Sonic Studio 3 and restarting PC I was able to successfully launch Sea of Thieves and join a server without having to attempt a second reinstall.

  • Anyone looking for a fix to this try uninstalling sonic radar 3 as well as sonic studio 3. This fixed mine

  • @vipor51 I have an asus huracan pc. Work here. Maybe try a w10 restore point?

  • @rarecsm I was having these same issues... saw your post and uninstalled Sonic Radar 3.... same issue with SoT.

Uninstalled Sonic Studio 3... game boots up just fine!

  • @anumrak Uh, when I answered your question about empty barrels the servers have been online for a few hours already. With notifications on Twitter, Discord and the forums. Why would I make another post about it?

  • 100% FIX I tried everything from the start.. EVERYTHING.. But The moment i installed Sonic Studio 3 and Sonic Radar 3 WITHOUT restart.. the game runs perfect

FIX -> Uninstall Sonic Radar and Sonic Studio = Game works.

  • Thank you to everyone who posted possible solutions. Unfortunately, none of those got the game working for me. :(

First time I start the game, it shows the SoT image in windowed mode, which then closes again. Every attempt to start the game afterwards results in nothing happening, not even the image I mentioned shows up. I can get the image to show up for once if I do the wsreset and app reset and computer restart.

I've tried everything mentioned in this thread except for reinstalling the game (It would take hours with my slow internet). There's no such thing as a Sonic Radar, Sonic Studio or A-Volute on my computer.

    Send help

  • @strikeit3999 I tried it and it does not fix it for me. :(

  • @vipor51 same here in the event log it says something about ucrtbase.dll

  • @takuboto will there be an update that fix this without uninstalling Sonic Studio?

  • Uninstalling Sonic Radar 3 and Sonic Studio 3 completely solved the issue for me. Spent the whole day re-installing the game and it gets fixed with something like this... Really funny.

  • got the problem too, i removed all the sonic software on my computer, works fine now, thanks for the tips

  • Any other help out there for those which removing both Sonic programs didn't fix the issue?

  • @vipor51
Nope mate, I'm in the exact same situation as you ... I skimmed the internet and sadly I haven't found any solution so far...

  • @vipor51 Try installing another app. I downloaded and installed Spotify. I restarted PC after that and tried Sea of Thieves. It gave me the "app didn't shut down corrctly" at first. I selected "no" at the file integrity check and the game loaded to the main menu.

  • @chumnation
    sorry, sounded nice, didn't work

  • Omg, i wasted all day trying to fix this with all method. Only uninstall sonic studio work

  • @chumnation I tried installing a free app from WS and this didn't work either. Thanks for trying to help.

  • @vipor51 I've also had no luck. I've uninstalled both Sonic apps and did the whole app download, no luck. Starting to worry that Rare is going to accept that the Sonic app fix is enough and give up on actually fixing the issue.

I really don't want to, but I dont see any other option at this point besides installing Windows 10 fresh. :/

  • @mau5robinson hey, unfortunately that wouldn't even help, some people here did that and it didn't change a thing

  • @takuboto Is this fix still coming? At this point I have done everything besides a fresh OS install (which some people have tried with no luck) and I hope you guys didn't just accept that some get it fixed with the Sonic apps uninstalled.

  • @burning36 I'm having your issue as well. I don't have Sonic Radar, Sonic Studio, or A-Volute on my computer either. I reset the Sea of Thieves app, but it still opened up in a window for only a few seconds then instantly crashed. I don't want to reinstall the game either, I have bad internet too. I hope they're able to fix this.
