Friendly Reaper's

  • I would love it if there were more encouragement for Reaper's Emissaries/players to work together.
Reaper's Bones is my favorite trading company to play in the game, and some of the most enjoyable play sessions I've had is when I've encountered other Reaper's and allied with them to do world events or FotD. I realize that Reaper's is the PvP faction, but I think it would be much more enjoyable for the more casual Reapers to encourage teamwork within the faction.
The best way to implement this in my opinion would be commendations or increased loot prices/rep amounts if you are a Reaper's Emissary in an alliance with other Reaper's Emissaries.

  • that's gonna be a tough sell outside of the alliance server crowd lol

I will say though that reapers largely works fine for both peace/hostility, the main issue with reapers was server cheesing which interfered with the organic design.

Reapers work together a lot and they fight a lot, they get hunted a lot and they hunt a lot. It works great when the server doesn't have a bunch of hopping/coordination influence/interference involved in it.

Much of which has improved dramatically with HG being added.

Gold/goal grinding is the organic incentive for both peace and hostility, which is the design of the game

Yeah..Two Brig Reapers working together to sink other ships. :D

I realize that Reaper's is the PvP faction

  • The Reaper's accept flags from everyone. They themselves encourage their emissaries to fight each other, I don't think this is needed.

Doesn't mean pvp. You can steal without fighting. 😉

  • Reapers were intended to be the fighting faction, and even in the lore they are allowed and encouraged to fight among each other. Reapers were intended from the day of their launch to be the people that were supposed to steal treasure and sink other emissaries, but it just turned out too easy for them to get away with not fighting at all.

If reapers got a rework ever i feel it would be to try and entice more fighting than they do now.

  • If you get a server with a fair amount of reapers, they will probably be more likely to ally with you than attack if you are a reaper yourself. While reapers are all about stealing, the best way to get gold is by working together with other reapers until all the treasure is collected. Since the emissary multiplier for reapers applies to all loot, it is usually better to ally with other reapers to get more loot instead of sinking them for an emissary flag. However, once all the loot is collected, the stealing will probably begin, which makes the gameplay all the more interesting. In other words, alliances are already very profitable for reapers.

It's largely just a risk/reward faction (in theory) where the pve reaper became "defense pvp" long before HG and hg defending became a thing.

I pve reaper'd organically through the height of hopping/coordinated hunting. Pve reapers were doing more pvp than pretty much anyone at the time because of the pressure from hopping/cheesing/coordinating

Just pvp burns out pretty much everyone in the game without some extra incentives around it.

Organic pve reaper play with defending is pretty much peak SoT as far as risk/reward organic pvp goes. Over hunting became a real problem because it killed off a lot of activity but defense pvp/pve grinding was pretty much HG before HG. Hg just does some parts better and some parts worse with added incentives.

If anything I think HG defending should be significantly improved with incentives and just let reaper do its own thing for people outside of HG, at this point.
