Steam Achievements Revisit

  • There are some insane achievements out there. Take for example the fruit crate delivery, or explosive keg delivery achievement. You gotta deliver 50 of them on time. I've played more than 200 hours, and have gotten 1 fruit crate quest and 0 explosive keg ones. At this rate, i'd have to play 10.000 hours to even complete the fruit crate achievement.

I'm no Steam completionist by any means, but when i'm really into a game, i enjoy looking at them and eventually completing them if it's not too crazy. But in Sea of Thieves, it's too crazy.

Please revisit the achievement section and remove or balance them a bit. It doesn't have to be easy or quick to get 100% by any means, but if you can't do it in 500 hours (despite this being a rookie number for some players, this is actually an incredible amount of time to play 1 game), it's not implemented properly.

LOL, you should have been around BEFORE they lowered it. It used to be 250 of each before they adjusted it down to an acceptable level as it is now. Do not expect it to be lowered again as it is entirely at an acceptable level.

There are much worse achievements to get than these, these just have a RNG effect to them and they aren't really common. Best advice is if you are trying to grind them out, drop whatever you may be doing in the game whenever you get one of these quests from a barrel or bottle and do them instead. I say this since they are on a timer and can easily be forgotten if you don't prioritize them (leading to it expiring). It will still take a while, but as I said there are much worse grinds in the game then these. You'd be lucky to scratch many of those in less than "500 hours" as you claim - some games have long term goals and don't expect you to grind them out quickly.

  • @dlchief58 I don't care if they lowered them before, they were insane then and are still insane now. Like i said i'm not one to go grinding for achievements. I'll play the game naturally, and after 500 hours or so, i'm hoping to near some kind of completion and will go for the rest to get 100% sometimes. I do the quests when i get them, and 1 fruit crate in 200 hours is not gonna cut it.

I wonder how many people on Steam actually have 100% on this game.

Look more in barrels and pick up more bottles for those fruit crate quests.

  • @hefty-henri well if we are taking any sort of vote in this thread, I don’t think they are too high.

LOL! Gears of War's - Seriously - achievement says HI!

When you knock out the 250 Merchant voyages completed (which used to be 1,000 BTW!) let's see if you are still whining about 50 measly fruit crates.

  • @dlchief58 I struggle to see the case you are making, you are saying the example i'm naming is irrelevant because there's even worse stuff that will take much longer to complete. It was an example, not the sole part. The entire achievement section needs a revisit, including the other stuff you are naming that will supposedly take forever.

  • @hefty-henri Some commendations/achievements are daunting but i quite enjoy chipping away at them. Every session a little progress is made!

Someone stole my fort? I got a completion.
Didn't make much gold? Got voyage completions anyway.
Playing on a reaper galleon although that's not really my thing? Handed in some flags + got progress towards emmisary completions.

Also during every session i sailed nautical miles, bought voyages, delivered some chests or skulls I needed...etc

I do however think it would be nice to start fruit or cannonball voyages on demand. Don't really like dropping what I'm doing to focus on those when they pop up.

  • Have fun finding 50 bottles that offers you all the wood-crates to sell. That one is a pain.

The keg ones you can get from basic voyages from Merchant, or you could before at least.

@hefty-henri "I wonder how many people on Steam actually have 100% on this game."

I could be wrong, but zero people. You need 5 shrouded ghosts and the most two? players have is 4 of them.

It depends upon what criteria you use to define a "completion" - commendations or achievements. The OP is hung up on the achievement side it appears, which has been completed by several gamers...and this is going by the Xbox/Win10 stats (not the Steam ones that removed the Arena achievements, so many of those will in fact NOT be 100%). According to True Achievements, 93 people have unlocked EVERY achievement in the game (base, DLC AND Arena) that are members of that site. So that is the minimum who have "completed" the game according to achievement listings on Xbox/Win10.

I might also add that a few of those achievement completions were also done prior to the amounts being reduced, such as the very thing the OP is [Mod edit] [Talking?] about. Several of them were unlocked with the original 250 fruit crates/gunpowder barrel requirements....in the first year none the less!

No idea if anyone has completed all the commendations, and I don't think there is a way to check that...on any system. All you have is if someone says so.

  • @dlchief58 Thanks for insinuating i'm ''whining'' about this, but i was talking about Steam achievements, not all commendations in the game. I don't know why some people get their undergarments in a knot at the mere suggestion that those achievements are actually achievable before i turn 80, but it's strange. Being able to get 100% achievements is not a big deal like i said, but it'd be nice to get somewhere close by just playing the game a lot (500 hours was just an example of a reasonable time played for this game where you could achieve that).

I insinuated nothing, I said it outright and stand by it. Just calling 'em like I sees 'em.

And as I stated, at minimum 93 people have EVERY achievement in the game. Many unlocked the very achievements you are complaining about in the first year, before they nerfed it by 5 fold to today's amount. Over 1,000 people have both these achievements to date (1,161 fruit, 1795 gunpowder - TA stats).

    Seriously.....

  • They are not that bad tbh you just gotta look for them and do them when they pop. I managed to finish all of them just by looking around when doing other stuff and delivering them when I get them.

  • @dlchief58 What a big man talking trash on video game forums. If you ''sees them'' like that you need some thick glasses.

Your entire rant about who has what achievement is pointless, my point stands that the achievements are currently too much of a time investment for people who don't solely play Sea of Thieves for 4 years straight.

  • @nitroxien You got 100% achievements on Steam?

LOL, amusing how you relate FACTS to a "rant". Your "point" is still needless complaining and has no legs to stand on. Play the game if you want them, don't ask to dumb it down for the rest of us because you can't handle a trivial grind with a RNG spawn rate. Not every achievement needs to be a quick and easy one.

    Seriously.....

  • @hefty-henri Not yet but I am done with the delivery achievements. All I need now are the voyage completion ones and miles and I'll be done which is a breeze ever since captaincy added low level voyages. Right now I am at 94% completed with the steam achievements.

  • @dlchief58 You continue to have the reading comprehension of a 3 year old and make posts that completely miss the point of my thread, so i'm gonna drop the ''discussion'' here. Bye

  • @nitroxien Nice, how many hours played do you have?

  • @hefty-henri right now 2.2k though should be noted a few hundred of those were spent in arena.

  • @hefty-henri 50 banana(before other fruit was added) crates was easy. 50 wood crates was far more time consuming.

Don't treat it as grinding. Just play and see what happens.

  • @hefty-henri 50 fruit crates to deliver is insane?!? Whaaaat? 😳🤣🤣

If you want a game with easy and fast gamerscore (achievements) to earn, I wouldn't recommend Sea of Thieves

    This is a ridiculous suggestion

  • They already did.
