PvE, PvP, PvEvP why does it matter?

  • @wagstr
Indeed. Much compromise and balancing would have to take place before such become viable.

I've never been anti-PvP. I understand how others would assume such, but it was never implied. Very possibly due to linguistic translations - Not being a Native-English speaker.

I've mentioned possible ways to increase a more fluid transition if private servers became available to all. However, again, as I've mentioned, I'm not entirely certain it would work.

I appreciate your views and opinions on the matter. As it does induce proper reasoned debate.

    Cheers!

  • Welcome to planet earth, where every single living person is a well you know what they are, as described, 100% out of them.. None of us are saints. I gave up long time ago on humanity. People can't be trusted. I'm still playing the game and for that just run, run away and keep running. It's just a achievement hunt at this point to unlock everything, well that's almost all it's ever been honestly. It's just work that needs to be done. Avoiding others in the end is pretty easy, when you set spending a little time on it. Never carry any loot on the ship, ever, if you want to make money just rowboat all the loot. I guarantee 90% of the player base won't even notice you or chase you. It just takes a lot of time and is slow, but hey that's what we got, time. Play at non peak hours, best is 03-05am. Even if you're working or school, just sleep after work and play at night. Or just join the waiting list for sp game. Eventually it will come, i'm just pretty much wasting my time waiting for some other company or even rare at that matter to rent the sot license and make a single player game based on the engine and the game world. Full on story driven game with it's own progression, stand alone from sot. Let sot be what sot is, the shared world game of pvpve.
Someone will see the potential to just use this graphics engine, story, characters and create a new full priced game, with no multiplayer and no other people. Patience is a virtue. But in todays industry standards great single player games need extra support to survive, cause all people want to do is pvp irl and in-game, so support the games that you want to play.

lol - what a ridiculous outlook you have.

And I mean ridiculous by its core definition.

Thank you all so much for your input. I still don't think giving people the option if a private server or something would be a bad idea. If most people like both it won't make that big of an impact. If more people are like me a and want to just enjoy the game in PvE and it would ruin the game then wouldn't that make us right all along for wanting to be able to do that? Maybe if there was a way to just say please don't attack me? I don't know I just don't think I should have to run away all the time. It's gotten to the point I don't even trust anyone in the game. Too many people have pretended to be nice just to kill me. Si even if someone really is nice I can't trust then and I have to run away. And please don't make the excuse that it's a pirate game. That's a very poor excuse to act like a jerk.

but the point is seperating the mode would remove the entire premise of what makes sea of thieves an enjoyable game

in my opinion sea of thieves is a good game not because of its weapons not even sailing a boat or roleplaying as a pirate

what makes sea of thieves a good game is the people

the people you don't know if you can trust

if you made the modes seperate this quote from the official steam page "Whether you’re voyaging as a group or sailing solo, you’re bound to encounter other crews in this shared world adventure – but will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond?"

this would no longer exist the biggest part of what makes sea of thieves well sea of thieves

for me it was never about the skeletons or the loot or the pirates or the ships and guns

it was about the journey the unexpected people you meet out on the seas

but you make those modes seperate it will be "hi diddily ho neighborino!" or "avast ye scurvy dog!" depending on the mode you pick

the mystery made the game what it is and will always be the strongest point the game has got but this is my opinion

the thing you got going about you not being able to trust anyone thats how it should be!

THAT is what sea of thieves is you are sailing in a shared world with people you do not know their intentions are they good or bad?

do they want to steal your loot or say hi?

and the part about it being a "pirate game" you are only seeing the small picture of it

it is true the game is a pirate game and now you are thinking about the definition of a pirate "plunder and kill" no thats not the meaning of it

a pirate is a untrustworthy scurvy rat who plunders AND digs treasures but once again seperate the modes it will be a merchant or killers

being a pirate is not only about the plunder (even if movies and books and games likes to glorify the pirates as being nothing but foul plunderers)

  • 2 dudes ganked me on an outpost, killed me, stole my merchant delivery stuff, I came back, set their ship on fire, they shouted son of a b**** and Bas****rd before they took off.. I got tilted, followed them, set them on fire some more, they hurled even more swear words at me, then I got bored and turned around. This is not even about pvp vs pve at this point, this game has a problem with toxic players. I wish I could say they were in the minority but I have maaaaany more stories to back up my claim unfortunately... It will never change. It's open seas and internet gives people the safety of anonymity. You report one, 2 more emerges. I simply quit out and try to find another server at this point.

  • @the-blessed1546
There are people who don't follow the PIRATES CODE but the code welcomes all player and allows everyone to play as they like as long as they are respectful and follow they CODE.
