  • most agree, No Safe-Zones, one Social "Safe" Zone/server: can we go over this one more time?

no. no safe zones within the world. none. no outpost safe-zones. making this clear now.

most agree, safe zones would be unfair to players that like PvP if players can just run to the nearest safe-zone and not adapt to the situation.

however, i would like to bring up this mega thread:

    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/29122/mega-thread-safe-zones

most agree within the thread that there should be a one island/city zone on a separate server with three rules.

    1. no killing.
    2. no sinking ships that are not your own.
    3. you cannot bring your supplies besides food (that means planks, cannonballs, chests, skulls, animals etc.).

other than that, the social zone would have shops, mini-games, lore, a bar of course, and faction headquarters to accept voyages. our own little Tortuga. a place to socialize without being bothered.

the reason i am bringing this up once again is because i'm sensing a lot of new people. ones that did not participate in this mega-thread created before the scale test.

all new pirates are welcome, but i'd hate to see such a good concept die under all of the controversy and hate, especially if a lot of people supported it.

EDIT: @kinggZANGA has created a topic discussing his/her concept on the mega thread. i would like all discussions related to social hubs from this thread to continue on this thread, or re-post your what you have already posted here. it has already gotten a lot of support with up-votes already more than my own.

  • Please make all outposts a safe zone or a temp safe zone

Hello, I'm a new player. Please make all outposts a safe zone for ships selling treasures because one of the biggest downsides of your game is that after a long treasure hunt which can take hours, other players can waste all that effort on outposts. You can also make it a temp safe zone for 10 or 15 minutes (no one should stay there forever doing nothing) so players can sell their stuff.

Please, don't say our game is about pirates and pirates do that in real life...this is not RL!. It's a game! and you made it to gain money from it. Which means that it has to be modified over time to get different people with different tastes and abilities to join in and enjoy it. And I think it's time to do that because your game now is a heaven for griefers. Players should be rewarded with a well deserved break when they reach the outposts because they have spent hours collecting treasures, fighting against other ships & npc's. I can't remember how many times I've seen this happen or it happened to me.

You made your game almost impossible for new players to enjoy because it's a long & continuous grinding process without any safe zone! You can even get killed by other players when you activate an adventure! Or tall tale which is a story mode, guys! (Story mode in any other game is completely separate from the online)

Outposts should be like your camp in RDR or your garage in GTA Once you get there, you can't be killed and your stuff can't be destroyed or stolen also you can't kill other players or steal/destroy their stuff. A similar example to make things easier to current players and attract new players is what Fortnite has done recently. Everyone knows that Fortnite is (build and shoot). Many weren't able to do that and I was one of them that's why i never played it but now they have introduced a no build mode and a lot of new players joined their game because of that tweak. What I want to say is: It's no a shame to make your game a little bit easier, more interesting and enjoyable for everyone, not just hard core players.

Personally, I find it hard to keep playing when almost every time I get attacked in outposts. Sooner rather than later I will stop.

Let me summarize what I suggested in a few points:
1- Ships shall not be sunk in outposts.
2- No ship can fire at another ship or its crew inside the outposts & the other way around.
3- Players shouldn't be able to kill other players or get killed in outposts.

All the 3 points may be subject to a time limit....Enough time to sell fgs!

PS: I know some players like to kill each other for fun or for training while they are on the outposts. they can do that on any other island or wait for the 15 min to end.

    Thank you.

  • Make a safe zone that really isn't all that safe!

To start, THIS IS NOT A THREAD FOR PVE SERVERS AT ALL.

Now then, I want a Tortuga place where everyone meets, chat and can enlist a crew right there with the people around, and can still kill but here is the incentive not to. If you kill someone here your respon takes longer then usual, like a strong 5 mins, long to teach you the pirate code. And that there would be money penalty for this one varying on how many one had killed.

    Thoughts on this?

  • safe zone = meh but.. I think Rare's Pirate Legend Island will be 'safe'.

safe zone = meh but.. I think Rare's Pirate Legend Island will be 'safe'.

I don't really want a safe zone, and I believe griefing in this game makes it more piratey and honestly don't want to lose that... however I have a gut feeling that Rare's pirate island for Legendary status pirates will be a safe zone - so those wishing for it will probably get it.

    Just an assumption.

  • 2 man crew sloop max inventory, loaded ships save inventory when signing off

I just started sea of thieves a few days ago. There are number of things the team has blindly neglected to see in the final developments. 1 being, the amount of inventory you are maxed out with should be increased x5 with players aboard a sloop.

Ship items such as food and wood should be saved when signing off, unless your ship has been sunk, or scuttled. I had 300 cannonball yesterday, I never really fired 20, if they could save rather than and up wiped .

Really enjoying this game, minus the toxicity, but I can look past the trash to bestow upon the beauty the team has put into this game. Hope too see these ideas installed one day.

  • Community Created Safe Zone

I have read a lot of discussions about people not wanting to PvP or requesting a 'safe-zone' so they can meet other crews, socialise and show off cosmetics, and even form alliances and go on voyages together. In a recent post I made, it occured to me that this could be something created and controlled by the community at large. If the majority of people truly want this safe-zone idea, then we could create and police one ourselves, without any need to change the game.

Now, I don't think this is a new or unique suggestion, but put simply, if there is a place that the majority of the community designate as a safe-zone, then people could visit that location and know that others visiting are likely to be friendly. In my opinion, this would be better as a larger island rather than an outpost. That way, people would be less likely to visit with loot on their ship and making themselves easy prey. A larger island would also make it more difficult for a single crew bent on PvP to potentially dominate over multiple crews wanting to meet and socialise.

There of course will be those who target the location. However, with the majority of people working together, they could band together to fight others off, making it a difficult target. The opposite could happen, with those wanting to take over the safe-zone banding together with others to fight everyone off. Of course, you could argue this is then a safe-zone for those people anyway as they are working together.

Another additional consideration is that, with island locations being used predominantly for quests, it might be worth having the location change over a set period of time. Perhaps this could be on a month/bi-weekly or even weekly basis.

Now, the difficulty with this is getting the community to first buy in to the idea, and then actually agree on a location to be the safe zone. This I am afraid is the biggest hurdle to this whole enterprise, however it is my hope that putting the idea out there might start to generate some traction. It could simply begin with a community member starting a post saying something like, 'safe-zone is at Crooks Hollow until 5th May'.

I'd be interested in any comments people have!

  • Outpost Safe Zone

First off I understand this is a pirate game. I like the game. What I don't like is 2+ hours is work getting stolen by Outpost campers (people who sit at an Outpost to take others treasure and turn it in while they respawn) at the last second. Then being spawn camped in my boat; and don't even mention scuttling because it's a lazy response to the issue.

  • Safe zone ideas

In a way the ship of the damned is a safe zone... but now if only they created a tavern, a location where you could interact with others
in a meaningful way so you could maybe setup alliances, trade quests, trade items perhaps? play some mini games or just any interactive ideas aside from the fighting and stealing in its current form
Any ships docked at that specific outpost can be subject to penalty if firing on other ships perhaps?
all this just to kinda escape pirating for a while in game.

And make nights darker, more interesting please.

  • Safe Zone

Due to Sea Of Thieves not having any way to pause the game without getting bombarded, I think it would be an awesome idea to add a big "safe zone" island just for players to take a time limit (20) min max time for players to take a break. If players reach the allotted time they receive a "Almond Beard" for inactivity.

  • Thoughts about the request of "safe zones"

Well, I'll start telling you that I played WoW. I played wow since nearly his first stages. And yeah, I loved the not instanced and sometimes unfair pvp, cause its the only real pvp and gives you the "this is my adventure and I dont expected this fight" feeling thats the real good thing about the pvp games, and I'm going to my point. I saw how the true pvp that make wow a famous game died by the work of blizzard at balance the instanced pvp and discourage the "outdoor" pvp, making the questing part of the game a lot boring. And that kind of s**t end at the lost of masive amounts of players with their 3rd expansion (that, and the bad managements of a lot of things, like the server populations in that regard).

And now we're on sea of thieves, with people asking for a PvE server, safe zones, guards... in a game purely announced PvP. Cause yeah, its a PvP game, despite you have to do some PvE to progress, cause its the games mechanic to engage you vs other crews. And that not means that you HAVE to attack other players. But lets get to the point: why people want to dig holes, defeat easy npcs, and catch chikens, without the emotion of being attacked and engage in a fight to save that job? Really, whats the point? This game dont exist around achievements, and his only grind is, like the old school games, only a excuse to let you play around the mechanics, not around pointless achievements. Thats why I dont understand why people want to f**k the only thing that spice this game despite the spices crates.

I myself, like all my 8 players crew, love the feeling of doing a merchant aliance quest, only because the PvP of this game exist. Come on, this game it's called Sea of Thieves, not Sea of Traders, and I want the feeling of being a Merchant chased by pirates and dont wanting to fight cause my cargo is valuable and i dont want to risk the cargo at a fight, but the poing is that I want people on the seas chasing me to steal my cargo, cause if there arent pirates in a pirate game, whats the point of caging pigs? This is not a smartphone game. Why I'm saying this? well, cause if Rare put any kind of measure to prevent people steal s**t at other ships (like guards at outpost, safe zones, or whatever), people that usually play the game like its intended, its going to encounter that they cant play it cause the other ships are only going to sail to safe zones at sight, and the ships that only want to dig for a chest, are going to leave the game, cause no one get fun of dig with a shovel for long enough with no real reward from that.

So why the people still ask for safe zones in a game that, since the begining, was announced without safe zones? Why they dont want to play the game the way its intended to be played and blame Rare for the amount of content? Dont know, I still love the game cause I dont see the quest like task, despite excuses to play adventures, but it seems that I rembember too much the old videogames where the point was to have fun and not fill the achievement list..
